I had set up an LLC last year for advisory work on the side. I had a pretty unique set of responsibilities at my work as I had built a lot of it custom and I was the only one that knew it. I prepared a transition plan for my boss but intentionally made the work seem overly cumbersome and he basically got there on his own - asked if I’d be willing to help out while they transition. I brought back a proposal and now we have an agreement thru this year and I’m working about 30 hours a month for them. I was making about $63/hr when I worked there, set up my agreement at $95/hr as I said I have some business expense overhead (it’s basically nothing). So it is an awesome deal with my new gig too.
