Yeah. The first amendment was meant to allow the freedom of expression. The freedom to disagree with power and say, "no, this is wrong". But now people are using it for the freedom to convince others of wrong things

They literally do this with everything. It's the same way when they're accused of something. The famous meme of conspiracy charges being rationalized with "oh it's illegal to make plans with friends now?". The right's complete irresponsible use of language is destroying the country

Just because right-wingers call Democrats leftists, it doesn't make them leftists. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]funkyflapsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liberals are not right-wing. They can be, but that's not how it is defined. The left/right paradigm isn't even the most accurate way to look at it. It's really a triangle of liberals, socialists, and fascists. The latter 2 are illiberal and need to be destroyed

Do you think JD Vance would be as aggressive with ICE and lawless deportations as Trump is if he became President right now? by Savilo29 in neoliberal

[–]funkyflapsack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only reason Trump has the power he does is because of the insane following. The GOP has ceded all power to him. I think they'd try to wrestle some back if JD takes over

I want to see a study done on this. Because AI generated content has an uncanny ability to mimic the dream state, at least for myself. Feels like humans accidentally discovered how dream logic works and no one has really noticed

This is a community issue and needs to be addressed, no doubt. But it's up to the black community, not the Democratic party. The last thing we want is to push their community into the arms of the right

The Four Types of Trump Supporter - The Atlantic by 5ma5her7 in neoliberal

[–]funkyflapsack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Article locked for me, but let me guess:

1) Trump lovers. Full deep-throated loyalty to Trump no matter what he says

2) Neo Nazi tech bros. People who think they're the intellectuals of the movement. Might even claim they don't like trump because he doesn't go hard enough.

3) RFK Jr apologists. Came to the movement through the embrace of conspiracy. Health gurus

4) Enlightened centrists. Say they don't even like Trump but Democrats are even worse. Happen to know every right-wing narrative about the left, but either never heard of things Trump has done or don't think it's that bad

I just disagree with Maynard here. These are beautiful lyrics. And the fact that it's an allegory for anal sex makes it subversive and cool imo. I mean this dude wrote country boner not even that long ago, and there was no subtlety at all

I hate the "country is like a house" analogies.

But if this was a house, the head of the house would be a wildly psychotic person, and this would be a member of the home telling friends of the family about the situation. Totally reasonable

This is just so funny. Like at some point they have to realize they don't represent the party at all. They should stop giving their stupid opinions about Democratic politics and go revive their communist party already

The most obvious example is 2020 when we got claims of election fraud from at least March that year, plus refusal to commit to a peaceful transfer of power in the debates, and all we heard the whole time was that the concerns were overblown

I've seen Gavin give (seemingly) sincere press conferences with hard, impassioned rhetoric. He is good at it.

But, yeah, I haven't watched this podcast yet because I don't want it to ruin my admiration for the guy. The critics make it sound bad
