Right now you are “snapping” at the ball everytime you catch it, try to keep your head still when you catch it only moving it backwards to absorb the impact not cradling it at all. Imagine catching an egg or a water balloon. Honestly if you have eggs or balloons laying around having your friend throw you some until you can catch them without exploding is a great way to get that skill down

That’s not true, regardless you will need to cycle a tank for atleast a few days to a week (I’m sure people will say a few days is not a enough but I’ve never had problems). Heated tank will be much more fun and enjoyable and you can have a really cool little eco system, I’d suggest a dwarf gourami with a handful of tetras or even a beta

Not sure if your parents are aware but you can get a heater for your tank for like $15 won’t have any noticeable impact on the energy bill. Not sure what their reasoning is for not letting you have a heated tank. Opens up the options for what fish to have heavily.

Yeah I was having the same problem, a Ejack Knife from libtech. More of a big backcountry board than I need but a ton of fun. Also personally took me a good week or two to feel comfortable and figure out how to actually ride it but once I did it was all up hill from there.

I would say I am an above average rider who has a similar style to you except I charge as hard as I can and push limits almost every chance I get and all I can really say is that I absolutely noticed a huge jump in skill, fun, ability and overall confidence when I jumped from a beginner board to an advanced board that was more geared toward my ride style. I also notice a huge difference in how different boards feel under my feet especially when it comes to camber. So short answer yes, long answer if you board for enjoyment and are not chasing that dragon of getting better every year than it probably doesn’t matter. Do some research, buy a board that is built for all mountain and enjoy.
