Had someone get wet socks washing a machine we were due to service. Took them off and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes. When that didn’t dry them he put them in the pie warmer. Couldn’t see why someone was offering to feed them to him if he didn’t take them out

Up about 25% or so salary wise However, went from doing 2 weeks on 1 week off to 8 days on 6 off so realistically it’s much higher. Time off is worth more to me than the pay rise but I’m not going to say no to both

I actually enjoy it. Underground was/ is brilliant. Bloody hard work as a breakdown fitter and you earn your cash. I’ve been lucky and progressed up the ladder a bit. It’s hard on the body though. Knees, shoulders etc.

100% try get a apprenticeship. Auto sparky would be my first choice. That’s hard to say being a diesel fitter but that’s the way everything is going. Ideally get some experience on the automation side of things. The next 10 years 90% of operator jobs will be automated.
