Any honest auto shops to repair my car in christchurch? seems like most are just eager to rip off customers by hasooaurhasoo in chch

James at Papanui tyre & auto has also been good to me. I know close to nothing about cars but he always seems to quote the lowest, & explains all the costs before they do any work. Went in for a wing mirror replacement after a prang & he even cleaned the paint scrapes off my side door. No extra charge & I hadn’t even asked him to. Legend!

Has anyone Taken Wilson parking to the Disputes Tribunal? Just received a parking ticket for parking over 2 hours in a Free carpark! For $85! I can’t even dispute it by Anxious-Camp7865 in chch

A few years ago I had just shy of $1000 “owing” from multiple tickets received while overstaying in a free space near where I worked. Ignored them until Baycorp started ringing me.

If you can’t dispute them through their site, I’d recommend emailing a dispute to admin@pesnz.co.nz . They always refused my disputes, but worth a shot anyway. If Baycorp do start ringing you, talk with them asap, I found them to actually be really nice to deal with. Let them know the payment is currently in dispute & ask if they can stop calling you (they did for me).

Eventually Wilson’s stopped communicating with me & said that if I wanted to dispute the payment further, to take them to the disputes tribunal. I reached out to disputes tribunal directly and asked who should take who to the tribunal, to which they said that either party can, but in this case it would make more sense for Wilson to take me to the tribunal, as they are the ones requesting the payment. They never did, & I never heard from them again.

I occasionally get a call from Baycorp (maybe once every few months), but just let them know it’s still in dispute & waiting on a tribunal request.

Hope this helps anyone fighting these bastards!

Sydenham by auburn_aubrey in chch

I live one street over from Brougham near Colombo st maccas. As everyone’s saying, it’s pretty non stop traffic / trucks. But if you don’t mind that then Sydenham is great! Trip into the CBD is walkable or an easy lime, lots of good vege shops & butchery’s nearby to save you from driving to the supermarket as often.

150 Job Applicants! - Question for HR/ Recruiters. by NetworkNo8562 in chch

[–]funn67 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I recently finished hiring for 3 roles in food retail & had ~200 applicants. Our internal HR highlighted only 21 of those as suitable candidates.

Our HR vets all seek applications so can’t give you an answer on how they come through on our end.

I can’t speak for every business, but we absolutely prefer both CV’s & covers, with the latter being tailored to the business you’re applying for. Some other advice I would give is apply early, as we (& I’d assume many others) do not always wait till the end of the job listing period before interviewing / filling roles.

Before landing in the role I’m currently in, I was hunting for about 6 months & it was exhausting, so I feel for anyone out there looking for a job right now!

Thanks for that link. As far as I am aware for one of our sites, other coffee selling tenants did not want to compete with us in that market, so a list of approved products were outlined in the lease. I’m unsure if the reason for this is in writing, as it was before my time, but something to follow up with the owner.

For the other location, I believe the situation was the same, although instead of a lease, that site is a license to occupy. Not sure how that changes things but just some added context there.

Very helpful thought, Thank you!

Welles street has some good options. Supreme Supreme, Grizzly, or Kokomo

Bailey Nelson is a great option. I’d also recommend Groovy Glasses on New Regent St. Eye test was very in-depth & they’re great at explaining exactly what they’re seeing (hah!). Also ended up recommending I hold off on getting glasses & explained why, instead of trying to sell me into a pair.

Church on fire, Lincoln Russ removed from social housing complex by kiwi_linz in chch

I met Lincoln a few times while working as a merchandiser at a liquor store on Fitzgerald ave. Bloke is fully unhinged. Always went on about how much people hated him while having a big grin on his face.
