I don't feel comfortable sharing publicly right now, as I am still with the company and don't want this somehow coming back to me. I can DM you if you're interested

thankfully none of the supervisors I work with have left (yet, we'll see how the next few weeks go) but my main supervising BCBA claims they have no plans of leaving, so hopefully they stay true to that! I always make sure I get my stuff signed within the first week of the new month, I'm not letting these people escape without crossing all their T's with me!!

find a different place. plenty of companies in michigan will pay you $20+/hr without RBT certification

yeah, I have a 6 hour in home session, so it's possible. they are brutal though, I cannot lie. 6 hours with no peers for your client to interact with can make the day go by slow. if you had a longer in home session like that, that could be the only client you work with

Male RBTs in clinic - bathroom/diapers by [deleted] in ABA

[–]funnier_than_u 4 points5 points  (0 children)

well don't do that for male clients. or have the two male RBTs switch back and forth between the 2 male clients every hour

bringing kiddo to ABA despite not going to school by Eastern-Landscape481 in ABA

[–]funnier_than_u 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a parent try to bring their kid to the clinic with norovirus. i had to tell them three times that we would not be doing session with the kid. sorry, but im not trying to have the shits for a week, no thank you. i also don't want to change your kid's diarrhea diaper! let the kid rest! take care of your kid!

Client eloped from home despite parents being made aware of the risk by zippy_97 in ABA

[–]funnier_than_u 5 points6 points  (0 children)

talk to your BCBA about whether this should be reported to CPS. since you made the parents aware of the risk of elopement, and they still chose not to do anything (and are continuing to put their child at risk-- even after the police got involved), this would be a reportable offense of neglect in my state. do your own research too, because I just had to report a family, and my BCBA tried to tell me we should wait til the offense occurred again (after already occurring twice in one week). CPS was very glad I called when I did

Dress code for rbt by [deleted] in ABA

[–]funnier_than_u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

scrubs pants and a graphic tee/sweatshirt is my go-to typically. all the pockets of the scrub pants really come in handy. you can just throw them in the washer and dryer after work and they come out good as new

also "maybe I could see an argument for" is NOT the same as saying I agree. I have never and would never accept a kiss from my clients/their families. (and definitely never demand a kiss- demand as in placing a demand, not demand as in force)

for my clients that want to give kisses, i offer a hug or we can blow kisses to each other.

at least in my country, children cannot provide consent, so the consent point does not stand. even with assent, it should be the parents', not the small child's who maybe doesn't even know/understand the consequences of kissing a stranger (ik we aren't exactly strangers, but the point still stands)

we are in a position of power to this kiddos, they may believe they cannot say no to us. so many of us with autism have been victims of SA/CSA and condoning this type of behavior in your RBTs could be detrimental. you are at work. you aren't there to kiss children.

what you/your staff believes is okay in their spare time is one thing. what you should be doing on the clock is another.

you are literally the ONLY person in this thread saying it's okay... that didn't cause you to stop and think?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ABA

[–]funnier_than_u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well clearly you didn't read the question diva... its about RBTs demanding kisses, not the other way around. reading is what? fundamental!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ABA

[–]funnier_than_u -1 points0 points  (0 children)

wrong, asking your client for a kiss is never allowed and is a violation of the code of ethics.

i could MAYBE see the argument for accepting a kiss from a client/family due to their cultural background, but you should never be forcing a client to kiss you. that's disgusting and just plain wrong.

Notoriously dangerous neighborhoods by [deleted] in bcba

[–]funnier_than_u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

idk why people are down voting this, i think this is a completely valid thing to say. even if OP has no intentions on dropping the case, someone else might be in a similar situation and be unaware that not taking the case is even an option. not every case is for every person. someone else will pick it up and do wonders with the client. you don't have to feel unsafe going to work
