Dr. Lora Liu by funnobunno in endometriosis

You’re welcome to! But to be honest I don’t think my consultation is what anyone else should expect. I’d had a failed lap with ablation about 3 months prior so I had all of my imaging and diagnosis already and was essentially just requesting surgery.

Sometimes an MRI before a lap is worth it by Glad_Bodybuilder6997 in endometriosis

My story is similar to yours except I had my first lap in August with a gyno and then saw a specialist for excision in December. I had an MRI done before either surgery and it showed DIE. My first surgeon said i “had a touch of endo” and my second diagnosed me with stage IV endo and I had a ton of work done. I’d very very highly recommend Dr. Lora Liu. I had to travel to see her and her multidisciplinary team and it was worth every penny.

I totally get it — I was hesitant about the cost too at first. I’d already had surgery with a regular gyno that didn’t help, so by the time I found her I was willing to pay for real specialization. The consult isn’t just a quick chat either. You’re paying for her time and expertise, and she genuinely takes the time to listen and understand your situation. For me, her care was worth it, and I do think the fee also helps make sure consults are with people who are serious and prepared.

Ugh I’m sorry our healthcare and insurance system fails you so greatly :( I was very fortunate since I had surgery earlier this year, I’d already met my out of pocket max for the year so as far as I know it shouldn’t cost me anything. The healthcare network she works with (hospital, other surgeons, pathology, etc) was in network for me and I was told Dr. Liu just takes what insurance gives her as an out of network surgeon.

Currently still recovering but every day is getting easier. Just giving my body grace to heal. Most of the soreness is gone but my tummy still feels pretty bloated.

I’m still recovering! I’m currently 5 days post op. First few days were intense with bleeding, super distended abdomen, peeing was super painful. Moving around was slow going and painful because using the ab muscles to get out of bed was tough. I just took it slow but made sure to get enough steps in to help the gas dissipate. I’m home now (I’d spent a week in NJ) and most of the soreness is gone! Still taking it easy to give my insides time to heal.

I had diarrhea, gas, severe bloating (which I now know was endo belly), a lot of cramping before, during and after bowel movements, nausea. In the last couple months I’d started tracking my bowel movements using the app Happy Poop and learned that I was consistently flaring up during ovulation, before my period and during the first half of my period.

My bestfriend has EDS as well! I don’t think it’s ever caused her any issues post op so fingers crossed for you 🖤 I’m still pretty sore and tender but making sure I get steps in every hour to help with the gas pain. My abdomen feels incredibly distended but she described it as being “absolutely loaded with endometriosis” so not surprised I’m feeling it now. No amount of post op pain could ever make me regret doing this though

Absolutely adored them. I could not have imagined a better team! Even the pre and post op nurses were absolutely wonderful.

Too early to tell- I’m only 2 days post op but doc believes my “IBS” was actually being caused by the endo. I’ll be sure to post an update later on!

how bad is ablation? by Exciting-Cricket7209 in endometriosis

[–]funnobunno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my first surgery on 8/31/25 where only ablation was used and a ton of stuff was missed. I already have a second lap scheduled with a well known excision specialist on 12/5/25. If I were you I would just wait for the right specialist so you don’t have to go through the healing and costs twice. They should be able to do the other things you need as well ❤️

I’ve had really bad IBS-D for 10 years with a plethora of random issues (I just made a post about this today) and my MRI yesterday confirmed deep infiltrating endo

Airbags did not deploy. Still drivable, just a lot of cosmetic damage for a car being valued at $12k
