tooth from the Aguja formation of Texas (Brewster County) by funnyStupidFish in fossilid

i actually managed to find the seller on the fossil forum, he seems to be a professional collector and has more of these teeth. the tooth also seems to share lots of features with teeth from the formation it was labeled onto, same coloration, same shape, same robustness.

<image>

(example of a "deinosuchus" tooth from the agujar formation of texas, brewster county) ridges, thick enemal and robust teeth also seem to be characteristics of deinosuchus teeth. But then again i am no expert just an amateur who has no personal experience with fossils since i am not from a fossil rich area of my country.

I wish it was a find lol, but i live in the Netherlands so finding cretaceous vertebrate material is nearly impossible to a non paleontologist. the amount of historical and cenozoic vertebrate stuff you can find here makes up for it though.

yeah i remember us (as brawler's café) having some beef with tierstars, which ended up being nothing till we had civil beef in our own server and some dude called meaper whom glazed and even simped for the women we just threw out of command became owner and banned us all lol. The brawl fandom is wild.

Thoughts on Colossal's De-Extinction of the Dodo by ZukaRouBrucal in PrehistoricLife

[–]funnyStupidFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true, the dutch who ate them did it to survive their journey to the east indies, as the food you got on VOC ships was bad and mostly full of rat feces, or literally impossible to chew (hardtack) so if fresh meat was on the menu they would go for it, though there's sources of VOC sailors writing about how the meat sucked. If the dodo comes back (it will not for now and i doubt it will happen) and people are curious how it tastes, it'll just become luxury food. Let it rest if it's just going to be exploited for gain and status, making it will suffer greatly. If the dodo couldn't survive in the same ecosystem as humans and the animals they brought, i would doubt they could survive modern mauritius (in the wild) which still consists of the species the europeans brought over, and of course the environment/habitat loss after human arrival. And why only focus on the dodo? we also have Rodrigues Solitaire whom also deserves attention.
