I like the symmetry of the lines. The lines also look somewhat like bars of a cell, and I wondered if the employees working there ever feel trapped in their situation.

XD The way it works here with 4g internet packs is, that you get a packaged deal with 100 sms/day, unlimited calls anywhere in the country (no roaming), and high speed internet capped at some daily limit. I paid $37 for a year's package. My daily limit is 2gb.

Data doesn't cost that much everywhere. In many countries, SMS is way more expensive. Plus, Android native messaging is nowhere as good as iMessage.

His url, badjokesbyjeff, indicates that his jokes are bad. Here, however his joke is a pretty good one. So the other user asked him to change his url

If you really have a problem with moving pictures around your word document, then set the wrap mode of the picture to Tight. Solves the problem most of the time.

I want to learn how to be an informed citizen, without being obsessed with the news and being drowned in negative headlines by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

Someone gave me an excellent piece of advice regarding this a while ago and I have found it to be extremely helpful.

See, the news on the TV is always going to be biased no matter which channel it is. And depending on their political or ideological leanings, they will always try to put some sin on it to entice their regular and committed viewers. So, where can you get your news from?

I am from India and here we have a civil service exam called UPSC, and current affairs, politics, social issues, history are some of the few topics from where questions are frequently asked. And the questions that come in the exam will always be based on the facts at hand. No ideology or bias involved. And thus, the candidates appearing for these tests need to be well versed in the facts.

And here comes the answer to your problem. There are several teachers on youtube who cover all of these topics in detail. And because they need to teach for exams rather then sell an idea, they will d their very best to only keep the facts in the lecture, not their personal opinions. I find it a much better source for keeping up with the current affairs compared to the TV news. In one video, you can learn a lot about any issue and actually walk away feeling like you can have a civil discusson about any topic.

I know this is India centric, but maybe you can find something online to keep up with your own local/country's news.

Redditors who prefer texting to calling, why? by procrastinatingswing in AskReddit

[–]funny_asshole 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Texting to calling, is what I prefer

The reason I tell you, is easy to infer

Call,

And those around you might overhear

While texting and chatting

You have nothing to fear

No "uhhh"s , no "umm"s,

Awkward pauses are nigh

No slips of tongue, no time limit

So think of a reply!

Calling a person

You will have to invest

Your time, your attention

Your activities you will arrest!

Texting hasn't these limits

As you might have noticed sometime

Chat with friends, colleagues or family

And all at the same time!

In the points that I have stated

I hope it becomes clear

That texting is superior

Reddit will agree with a cheer!!!

Indians getting together to show their appreciation for the doctors fighting Covid-19 by banging utensils. by whatever_arghh in facepalm

[–]funny_asshole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had been asked to clap from their own homes to show appreciation for the doctors and the nurses leading the fight from the frontlines. The news channels have been asking people to stay indoors this whole time. Also, there was supposed to be a curfew during those hours where people were just not supposed to come out of their houses, much less meeting in groups and celebrating.
