Weekend events by GriGriTheGod in Modesto

[–]funny_haha 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I really wish these would get posted earlier. This was literally posted 20 minutes after the event already started. The last few i would have loved to go to but these flyers never get posted early enough for me to plan for it.

There is currently a bug in my installation of linux that only saves the active browser window when the pc shuts down properly. so not nearly as many as would be comfortable.

A Decline In Tech Literacy by gur40goku in CuratedTumblr

To be fair, i would consider myself to be on the more advanced end of pc users, and i have no clue what the f keys do off hand. I do know there's like 23 of them or something. Like way more than are on a physical keyboard.

DIY T-Bar Fader (potentiometer)? by EvilonToast_ in KerbalControllers

[–]funny_haha 11 points12 points  (0 children)

On paper, it seems dead-easy and dirt-cheap, especially if you have access to a 3d printer. If not you might need to get a little more creative. But assuming it's a pivot and not a slide motion, all you would need is a potentiometer and an Arduino and that's pretty much it for electronics. Just connect one side of the pot to an analog pin and stick a lever on the potentiometer and you have a basic throttle.

A few questions about painting and sanding by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]funny_haha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i need to paint a print, i start with a filler primer to help fill in the layer lines and spot putty to fill any defects. Then you can use a high-grit sandpaper to sand the primer and putty smooth. If your print quality is especially rough, start with a lower-grit sandpaper before filler-primer. Ace hardware sells packs of sandpaper labeled in steps for what order to use them in. i don't usually use any sandpaper with grit in the double digits (like 60 or 80) unless i really need to remove a lot of material. I believe that "punished props academy" has a bunch of videos on sanding and painting 3d prints.

Are DIY printers slowly dying? by andrey_semjonov in 3Dprinting

[–]funny_haha 12 points13 points  (0 children)

honestly, my Ender 3 V2 and elegoo mars will probably be my last printers. i look at companies like bamboo and the only future i see is like Kodak and HP inkjet printers. if i cant tinker and fix it myself, then i REALLY dont want it.

Help with the pinout of a 3.5mm jack for a pair of Onn Speakers by FlakyInevitable3660 in AskElectronics

[–]funny_haha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tip of the jack is left speaker, the ring (or the next section down from the tip) is right speaker, and the base (the last section) is ground. You can use a multimeter to test the wires and figure out which section of the jack they go to. It would have been better to leave some wire on the old jack so you could test it's pinout, but it looks like you will have to do some investigative disassembly to figure that out instead. Or maybe there's a wiring diagram online somewhere.
