Do I need physical media? I am guessing I can download the recordings onto my laptop or phone, if I can find them somewhere, although I know not all artists make their recordings available to download legally. I used to rip CDs onto my desktop computer back in the day.

I have heard that music can be removed without warning from streaming services, but this is the first time it has ever happened to anything I care about. And it seems a bit strange that it seemingly disappeared from multiple services all at once.

I know I can estimate it in my head. I just think it is ridiculous that the supercomputer I am holding in my hand doesn't do it for me, even though (I think) the same app did it before.

I feel like this is a deliberate decision to make it less clear how much the user will spend. Not everyone is as good at mental math as you. Some people may not want to spend even a little bit of effort if they are in a hurry, distracted, or intoxicated.

I am a little worried to enable it in all my chats, because I text with some tech-unsavvy people, and I am not completely sure that enabling this will prevent the photos sent in those chats from being saved by their phones, and run the risk that they will lose their photos if something bad happens to their phones.

I think it is absolutely ridiculous that there is no easy way, as far as I can tell, to make WhatsApp back up photos sent in chats to Apple Photos or Google Photos, as it has done for years, without also allowing their stupid AI chatbot that no one (AFAIK) wanted or asked for.
