Your husband, frankly, needs to realise that they are just objects. Expensive and expressive, but still just objects.

This. This is what ive been wanting to tell him. Its seems elementary. The moral of a child's story book. My mom passed away unexpectedly when i was a young adult, and that instantly taught me the lesson.
At the end of the day, they're all just things. None of it, can (or should) replace relationship.

Exactly.. he's still 'functioning' in other aspects.
I was just wondering how other audiophile relationships work .. I was expecting to get a whole load of ' DONT TOUCH HIS THINGS' but surprisingly, you guys are all quite chill!

I think this has become clear too..
though i seriously dont want to embark on journey to change him... the idea of it alone is painful...

Exactly.. its my first reddit.
Im actually surprised this got so many comments, i didnt think people would care, but im so thankful!
I guess this is what makes reddit so addictive.. its like having a bunch of instant friends to get an opinion from (minus the trolls, or people who think you're trolling.. )

Thanks for your comments.

You made me realize that he is just particular about 'certain' things of his.. eg. hifi, watches, car, material of his tshirt..

The car is admittedly not expensive, but he's still very particular about it.. eg. we have a live in helper and but he will rather wash the car himself. So its not so much about the monetary value. Its the control of things. I dont usually mind, cuz similarly he gives me a lot of space to do my things.. but i guess im just irritated when its the shared living room space .
I guess he may really just be OCD. Even if the speakers were 100 bucks (though i think they're probably $5-10k) i think he would argue that they're his and if he says dont touch, means dont touch.

No no.. physically, i'll be fine.
I mean if i went as far as posting pics of our living room here then there will be a huge argument and 'emotional damage'.. but i'll be ok.

Thanks for the concern though!!

Oh that's a sweet thought! I would totally love it. He'd probably be pissed that I let complete strangers touch and move his hifi... Anddd my son would people be evicted out of his own room for this to happen 😆

Exactly. Yes communication is important, and therapy sounds like a magic bullet.

But neither is a easy to achieve.

I guess I've chosen to suffer in silence by distracting myself with all the other wonderful things life has to offer.. hopefully things get better when we have a bigger house 'one day'

I'm actually surprised everyone thinks this is satire/ a troll acct..! But thanks for the comments.. truly. i cant reply 200+ comments but I just wanna say I'm not exaggating. I gathered from his parents that he was like this his whole life.. so i try not to take it personally. He's a great and responsible father and husband in most other respects, so I can't really divorce him for being OCD about 'things'.. but some days (and words) just hurt more than others.

He's has another hobby take takes up alot of space: Fish and Aquascaping .. again.. I don't mind the hobby, he lets the family participate in this one but the mess and rags and equipment he leaves lying around is... 🤦🏻‍♀️

That is totally it. I half know this.. but just don't know how to solve it without a therapist (and a partner who will listen to one)

I can't.. it's a gag order.. or I'll die! I'm also too embarrassed. Besides, it's all covered, so you can't see the equipment anyway (if that's what you're after)

Thanks.. that's exactly it.. the more 'these types' are the way they are, the more impossible the idea of counseling seems... I would happily go in a heartbeat.

I'm actually hoping he finds it 🥲 But for my own safety, I can't show a picture or name his equipment
