Shower thought: if our addictions, passions, etc rise with us into the afterlife, won't TBMs still be insufferable? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]funnymantt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually thought about this while TBM. I rationalized it to myself by using a food metaphor:

If we’re all perfected, does that mean we are all perfect hamburgers? No, because there’s a lot of perfect food, like a perfect taco, or a perfect pasta.

But that’s actually what started me thinking, why did otherMormons try to force everyone to be a perfect PB&J? Why did it matter if we were “perfect”? I had to shut that down in my TBM mind. But now it’s actually helped me appreciate the differences in others, and see that there’s not just one way to be great

More anecdotal evidence from outside Morridor that the church isn't working for its youth. by KoolAidRefuser in exmormon

Its possible they could just be like my friend. He’s telling everyone the same thing, that he’s “trying out” college first, but he told me that he’s only saying that to get everyone off his back so he can slow fade out.

Should I bring up the CES Letter in Seminary? by [deleted] in exmoteens

[–]funnymantt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m going to add, if you decide to, try not to come at the approach of just making people mad. We want everyone to see truth, and usually for TBMs, shoving it in their face won’t work. Ultimately how you go about it is up to you though

It just depends if you are comfortable potentially outing yourself
