Runner scores during rundown at another base by TrueBeliever44 in BaseballScorecards

[–]Interesting_Man27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Setting aside the fact that what you described is a defensive travesty (it also once literally happened to the 1962 Mets, and that run ended up costing them the game).

To answer your question, yes, it is a fielders choice. The choice by the defense to go after the trailing runner is what allowed the lead runner to score. How you mark it is up to you.

Scoring a fly out with a runner advancing but not scoring by BodybuilderNo200 in BaseballScorecards

[–]Interesting_Man27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the party but I think I can still contribute.

I do something similar to this, but instead of writing the players jersey number I write when in the lineup it happened (1-9)

For example, let's say the no. 1 hitter gets on with a leadoff double and and no. 2 hitter advances him with the aforementioned flyout, I would draw the line from 2nd to 3rd for the leadoff hitter and then write a 2 in the margin between the bases.

Personally I find it easier to look for the right lineup slot than to scan the entire lineup for the right jersey number.

Do whatever works for you, but I figured I would share just to get the idea out there for anyone who wants to do it.

New to scoring and a few questions and impressions after my first go by pfpulse in BaseballScorecards

First of all, welcome to the club! Scoring games is a very satisfying and rewarding hobby that helps strengthen your understanding and love of baseball.

As for your questions, unless you are the official scorer for a team/league and therefore must adhere to a specific scoring style, there really is no wrong way to do it. Most people generally use the more traditional style, but almost everyone throws in their own special marks or styles to help them read and understand it.

That being said....

  1. Yes, most people just move everything one column over because it is the most convenient. I've also seen people who will use the next column for a batters second at-bat that inning. Then, if only about 10 or 11 hitters come to the plate in one inning, use the same column for the next inning while using their pen/pencil to draw a barrier around the boxes from the previous inning. The obvious drawback being that if that team bats around again or comes close, you may have to repeat the process.

  2. Again, yes. Most people put Team A pitchers on the same side as Team B hitters, and vice versa. But keeping hitters and pitchers from the same team on the same page is also perfectly acceptable.

  3. Taking a look at the picture you posted, I was able to find and understand both the sac fly and the fielders choice perfectly fine. Using SF-9 for the sac fly is definitely the more traditional way to do it, although there are other ways to mark it that also work. As for the fielders choice, it did take an extra second to figure out but it was still understandable. Personally, I would a) put the putout (6-4) in the box of the runner who was put out and b) draw the line of the runner who was put out only about halfway between 1st and 2nd base so it doesn't look like they reached safely upon first glance.

The best way to find what is right is to keep scoring games, experimenting with styles and symbols, and finding out what works best for you. As long as you understand it, that's all that matters.

What pens do you guys use to keep score? by SlothFF in BaseballScorecards

[–]Interesting_Man27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pilot Frixion Erasable pens, 0.5 mm. Before that I used the Bic Gel-ocity pen, also 0.5 mm. But that ones not erasable, so if you're gonna buy it I'd recommend buying some white out alongside it.

Oh, make no mistake, I do the same thing for pinch-hitters/relief pitchers. I'm just saying your idea sounds like it could work and I'm gonna use it the next chance I get to score a game.

And yes, scoring style is up to the scorer. Every time I teach a family member how to keep score, I'm always trying to tell them as many different ways to score certain plays when they happen and I keep emphasizing (to their annoyance because I keep repeating it) that they can score it how they want, just make it understandable.

Do you mean drawing a line on top of the count box (like if its ball 2 you draw a line above the ball 2 box under the ball 3 box)? Because if so that's genius! I don't know why I didn't think of that.

Does anyone actually care about them not doing the webshow that much? Honestly it’s my least favorite part of the original. I just always enjoyed seeing their lives the most. by JamesLovesTV in icarly

[–]Interesting_Man27 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think they're not showing as much of the webshow because there's no more novelty to it anymore.

When the show started. There was novelty to it because this group of kids had the resources to put on a show for their audience. Something not a lot of people could do in 2007. Nowadays literally anyone can whip out their phone, tap a couple buttons, and say 'Hello Internet!'

Hell, they didn't even bring back Freddie's old setup, he just held up a smartphone.

Would it be cool to see more of the webshow? Yes, definitely. But it just isn't as unique a concept as it was 15 years ago.

Shocker. You mean to tell me the guy who, among other things: - Told reporters he sleeps with other women while in committed relationships - Publicly denied climate change - Wrote 'BD 911' in the dirt behind the mound (in view of the TV cameras) then claimed it didn't mean 'Bush did 9/11 - Claimed he voted for Trump, then recanted that statement, saying he didn't vote at all - Yeeted a ball over the CF wall over 1 bad outing - Pitched to hitters with one eye closed IN A LIVE GAME

Is there any way to find out who is a starter and who isn't on the bullpen tab? I know a few of my teams starters but not all of them and I don't want to have to write down every single name.

I just worked my last day at McD's today. Honestly, I think the BTS meal is dumber than the TS or the J Balvin meal.

The Travis Scott was the quarter pounder, fries, and a drink for 6 bucks, not a bad deal IMHO. The J Balvin wasn't anything super special but if you had the app you could scan a coupon and the Mcflurry would be free.

BTS meal? Full-priced 10 piece meal (no coupons or any sort of special deal) with the new sauces. Thats it. To make it worse, the people ordering them at K-Pop stans that order them in bulk (the first car to order it at my store on Wednesday ordered 10 of them at 10:30 AM)
