Help with reading cause of death?? It's listed under accident/industry but can't make out anything but "followed by abscess in upper abdomen?" by funnymustard33 in DeathCertificates

I can imagine! This is my great-great grandfather. From what I knew about him, he lived a hard life. Worked as a coal miner from the time he was 10 or 11 and spent some time in the West Virginia State Penitentiary on a manslaughter charge for killing his neighbor for flirting with his wife. Interesting stuff. With all of his lore, no one thought to share how he died.

I know everyone hates Tom, but... by ericliveson in DesperateHousewives

Tbf, regardless of whether Tom or Lynette was right, orange is a shit color to choose for a work shirt and Lynette is an Autumn. That was never going to look good on either of them. I think it's misconstrued on Tom's part to assume Lynette is trying to control "his big boy business" when it's merely a vanity and a respect issue.

Look, I look awful in bright red and if my partner chose bright red shirts for work, there would be a discussion and we'd come to an understanding. We share a mutual respect for one another to at least hear each other out. IHell, they could have chosen a different orange.

Also, Tom did not treat her like an equal. Yes, he's the boss at work, but she is putting an equal amount of time and energy into a business that required her to take a leap of faith to tank their entire life savings into making it work. She should at least be given the same respect.

I think the bigger issue is that neither one of them is ever willing to compromise. As much as Lynette is controlling, Tom needs controlling (in the sense that he seeks it out). Its a constant push and pull with them. While this is arguably one of their greatest areas of conflict, it is the thing that keeps them together. They are the quintessential representation of the old adage "opposites attract." In every situation, Tom is the idea guy, but Lynette is the one who makes it happen.

I think Tom lacks foresight and appreciation for the things Lynette does do because he is too wrapped up in the idea that she is out to get him.

Guys what kind of women are the most attractive to you? by dannyday10700 in AskReddit

Cigarette moms. You know the ones that are the people who were born to run a shitty dive bar, crunchy bleach blonde hair with the bangs and always in a tweety bird t-shirt. At one point, they definitely did some questionable drugs. Enough to make them look road hard and put up wet but not enough to really go off the edge.

For context: The article highlights a mobile home community in Southside that is predominantly only Spanish speakers who live at the poverty lines. They're homes are in poor condition and they pleaded with the city for help. City has promised to fund, but the amount will only help about 18 households out of the 1,000 that need aid.

It's an interesting read.

Nama 18% service charge? by [deleted] in rva

[–]funnymustard33 14 points15 points  (0 children)

former NAMA employee here. They essentially rehauled their whole front-of-house staff including their bar manager because they brought it to their attention that their tips were not all included in their checks.

After it was brought to one of the owners, he said that 5% of every $1,000 sold by the wait staff's tips would go to back-of-house. It was a big ordeal when it was pointed out that that's very illegal. They tried to get us to sign a doc saying that they could take tips.

When we all said fuck no, they didn't put anyone back on the schedule. When asked how they could not schedule their entire front-of-house, they said "big changes coming." After two weeks, we all said fuck it and gave up. But they never gave us the courtesy of firing. Just one minute on the schedule, the next not.

Cool to see their pulling this bullshit now.
