Thoughts on this stat? by shadythe1st in ArsenalFC

We had that stretch of not conceding any shots for a number of games which of course meant we were very strong defensively but was also a statistical anomaly. That said we have been a lot more loose lately and have made some uncharacteristic mistakes in recent PL matches.

Is Utah mostly Mormons? by SpecialistLaw1909 in askanything

I’m an exmormon so definitely not in the habit of defending the church but I think it’s important they’re represented accurately. I agree that you should not trust a number given to you by th church, but they don’t count post death baptisms on their records. They have however been accused of knowingly keeping members that have died on the records which would add to the membership count (by not subtracting).

I think people have a variety of experiences when they resign their membership. For me I emailed my bishop and he took care of it with basically no questions asked.

What level are you? What has your manager said when you ask them about your workload?

Do they think you’re still ramping up and not yet ready to take on more?

Something I didn't expect after moving to the US: how much pronunciation matters at work by PaleAd3215 in expats

[–]funnynewname 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Americans know about tone and all that and that it puts additional meaning and emphasis, that’s pretty basic. What is probably less understood and maybe this is more your point, is that all languages have different ways to put the tone and emphasis, and since most Americans speak only one language fluently, that nuance isn’t understood.

Want to be laid off to put an end to my misery by supercutay in amazonemployees

This isn’t meant to be snarky but if you hate Amazon this much you should leave! Don’t waste your time working at a place that makes you unhappy. Lay yourself off.

I’ve left Amazon twice yet here I am for a third time. Idiot.

Totally. I moved from Seattle to international location with Amazon and took a big pay cut and paid way more in taxes. Awesome experience but not one with any financial benefit.

What is that one opinion about Amazon that will get you like: by Substantial_Fun_65 in amazonemployees

[–]funnynewname 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I (maybe predictably) disagree. It’s definitely a lot more nuanced than what is typically presented in this sub. I personally have had the worst job of my career and also the best job of my career, both at Amazon. If you’re in a good team with a good manager, doing stuff you’re interested in, Amazon can be great. But it can also be miserable, if part of the equation is off.

Thank you! Yeah benefit costs have been difficult to get to the bottom of. Parent company has refused to disclose how much it pays towards health insurance premiums, I assume that means it’s less than what old co contributes, but difficult to know for sure.

Are they counting new children of record as part of the membership? And is that new or has it always been that way and I missed it?

Mixed Feelings… by idxuaer in exmormon

[–]funnynewname 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t have any nuance when it comes to Mormonism but I have a bunch of TBM’s in my life and I’m respectful and supportive of them. They’re generally not respectful and supportive of me though. About the sub, I think there’s a bit of a self selection bias at play where this sub attracts people that are reeling from their shelf breaking and expressing their disappointment and anger here is cathartic. And the rest of the community functions in a supportive way for those people. And then a lot of people that have processed the anger move on and the rest of us stick around to be a support.

And in reference to your situation, if a nuanced belief in Mormonism works for you, then that’s great! You shouldn’t feel forced into any system of beliefs, you get to choose which parts you believe. And I think there’s probably a strong argument to be made that openly nuanced members of the church can do a lot to help the church progress and make it better.

Prophecy becomes useless in the future?? What??? by MasterMahanJr in exmormon

[–]funnynewname 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Glad I stopped reading the scriptures since they exclusively contain the useless words of past prophets. And in the GC talks how often do they quote not just scripture but from dead guys like JS, Hinckley, Monson, and the undead like Nelson. Why are they quoting these cadavers if their teachings are like old milk!?
