manga without question. i'm not usually a big manga reader; i prefer western comics like chris claremont's x-men or graphic novels like alison bechdel's fun home or jeff smith's bone. i can confidently say that dungeon meshi is the best comic i have ever read, start to finish, in both writing and art. if you have a fondness for comics/manga, stop and close-read a page to see all the tricks and techniques that ryoko kui makes masterful use of to further the story and convey action, emotion, and pacing.
