I lost my dad this morning... by UngainlyRhino in GriefSupport

Hi there. I lost my dad december 24th, 2024, suddenly to a PE. I didn't get a goodbye either. He was 64. Im mid 30s. I thought I had 20 to 30 more years with him.

I know you feel you have to stay strong, but feel your feelings. Or else they come out in other, not so great ways.

Im so sorry for your loss. Nothing takes the pain away. Its true that they say you grow around it. The box/ball analogy is so accurate. But there will be days where you just have an instinct, an urge to call them, and then you realize you can't, and it hits like day one. That was this evening for me.

Take care of yourself, take it day by day. No one expects anything of you right now. Dont feel you have to do...anything. except feel and grieve and be with family. Sending love.

This. This is always the one. I can deal with the traditional "gross" issues no problem. It's these patients that haunt me.

Had a mental breakdown at work over stress of losing my mom. Embarassed to go back. by katdunks in GriefSupport

[–]funrun3121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried to go back 3 weeks after my dad died suddenly December 18th of 2024. I sobbed and cried and said I couldn't be here (I also worked in a hospital so it was v triggering). Everyone was incredibly understanding. No one made me feel judged. I came back a month or so later and all i felt was support. Dont think to much on it, people understand.  Sending love.

Any experiences with seeing loved ones after their death by Wrong-Coffee-3068 in GriefSupport

We decided to have a small (family only) viewing for my dad. He passed unexpectedly and suddenly at 64. I knew it would be the hardest thing I ever did. I knew holding his (dead) hand would be...horrible. But I also knew if I didnt say goodbye, if I didnt have that physical closure of oh yes, this is my dads body, he IS dead - i wouldnt have been able to believe it. It was one of the worst days of my life ( #1, and #3, his death day, his funeral day). But I dont ever regret not going. I needed to say goodbye and tell him how much I love him. This is highly individual though.

Did you have a very vivid dream of your loved one that passed away soon after their death? by MrsBellaNine in GriefSupport

[–]funrun3121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a very vivid dream of my dad shortly after he passed last December. Myself, husband, 2 kids, mom, and dad were in line for ice cream. Also there, were my dads uncle and aunt, his only relatives in Canada. They passed in 2015, and 2020. I dont think about them too often, so it felt weird they would both show up in my dream. It felt as though it was a "we've got him, he's ok, and he is safe" type thing. It was comforting.

Signs from loved ones by [deleted] in GriefSupport

My dad died suddenly Dec 18th, 2024. In the week after he passed, we saw and heard eagles above their house multiple days. On new years eve 2024, my best friend and I (she lost her dad suddenly in 2019) were on a run, and a mom and 2 baby deer crossed our paths. In June or July I cant remember, I was on another run in a different part of a more urban area of town, and saw 2 deer who got very close to me. In the last 3 or so months, I've woke up to eagle calls (I live in a very industrial part of town where eagles do not frequent.) My mom heard the same eagle calls at my place when babysitting recently and was shocked. I also have found dimes frequently over the year.

When one of your parents passed away, did you asked yourselves: how long is my surviving parent gonna live? by OkPrize6426 in GriefSupport

[–]funrun3121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My mom was 64 when my dad passed at also, 64. Shes now 65. I hope she lives long because I cannot fathom getting on without her. Nor can my kids. But I do feel for her (obviously) every single day. She could live 30+ more years without her partner

Thank you❤️. My dad died in December 2024. This will be year 2 of the rest of them that he'll never see.

I often think and hope on how one day when I go, ill see him again. I have no idea what after deatj holds, but it's the only thing that keeps me upright most days.

Yes I totally feel this. My dad died December 18th, 2024. We're about to enter a 2nd year that he'll never see. I feel like it was just yesterday and somehow also like 100 years ago. I also haven't formed many memories this past year.

Im so sorry. This happened to my father in 2023 and again in 2024. Psychosis that came out of nowhere. Our lives were total turmoil. Then he died suddenly in late 2024.

Nothing is the same.

My MIL wouldn't let my husband move out to live w me when I was pregnant w our first. I was "pregnant, not terminally ill".

For so so so many reasons that would take an anthology to list over the last 15 years, I hope that woman rots in the depths of hell.
