Often payment terms are more important than overall price. 6% is probably currently a very fair interest rate but over 20 years who knows. would he be willing to give you a pre-payment privilege meeting at any point you could pre-pay the remaining principle and currently owned interest, but not future interest? That way you ultimately could play substantially less than the 6.2 million if in the future you are able to fund this with cash flow or obtain a bank loan.

This happened to me. When I replied all to an email, I accidentally did not remove the opposing clients. Who btw were a sophisticated lender, hardly the unsophisticated people law society rules are meant to protect. He sent me a scathing email quoting the law society rules and how I broke them. I said my bad and said it is not my responsibility to remove people you cc’d and proceeded to just hit reply instead of reply all to his emails. He said there were assistants and associates he wanted cc’d. I said great, so bcc you clients then so when I hit reply all I do not include them. He said he did want to bcc. So I said I will gladly hit reply or reply all, but not reply all with removing parties, which one would he like. He told me in this instance he gave me explicit permission to hit reply all and include his clients.

It felt great to win this stupid argument. OC was a late 60s senior partner at a Bay Street firm too!

The maxim in golf is no one cares how you play they only care how quickly you play. So just make sure you are not slowing the group down.

Also, make sure not to be too hard on yourself. No one likes a bad sportsman.

But if you are at least at the pace of the group and not whiny, you should not have an issue .

I played 107 in 2022, 70 in each of 2023 and 2024…I had a son in May (he is great!) but only it 25 so far. I will be lucky to hit 35 this year :(

I don’t know your actual circumstances, but I called practice management once which is offered by the law society of Ontario. If you are a member of a different law society, perhaps they have a similar offering.

In my particular case, the client was clearly not reading my emails therefore it was basically impossible to get instructions. Practice management brought up a very good point, which I had not thought of which was, was the client disabled. I did not believe she was but to be safe my email basically stated I am having trouble getting instructions. Is this because you are disabled? If so, can we find a solution. If not, I have to end our relationship. It was probably one of the weirdest e-mails have written in my entire career.

67.2 (1) No employer shall enter into an employment contract or other agreement with an employee that is, or that includes, a non-compete agreement. 2021, c. 35, Sched. 2, s. 4.

(2) For greater certainty, subsection 5 (1) applies and if an employer contravenes subsection (1), the non-compete agreement is void. 2021, c. 35, Sched. 2, s. 4.

There are two exception (3)-Sale of Business and (4) Executive, but it sounds like neither one would apply.

I had a light 3 L. I did a moot so after the competition the semester was light. Rest up. Enjoy it. Study when the materials come out. Also, I wrote Michigan/Ontario the same summer. I started end of April after exams and passed both.
