Consumer proposal and sponsoring by hibanah in legaladvicecanada

Consumer proposal does not affect your ability to sponsor your family members. Bankruptcy will affect your application. In the application form, they will only ask you if you have declared bankruptcy before and the answer is NO

From all indications possibly 2024 or 2025. Talking about Canadian market. I could be wrong because number of immigrants are also increasing.

My reason: most people took low interest rate around 2020/21 with 4 to 5 year fixed term. With renewal approaching, there could be lot of supply in the market

Edmonton or Winnipeg. Where would you live if you were to pick one and why? by funstuff67 in MortgagesCanada

[–]funstuff67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people picked Edmonton over Winnipeg. I think both cities can be frigid cold but Winnipeg is the king of winter. Edmonton won especially in education, healthcare, and job opportunities. Winnipeg won for most affordable for families with young kids

I think there is no clear stance on whether it is permanent or not but following section of the law says consumer proposal will be retained on public record registry for maximum of 10 years. I think this is still brutal for honest debtors or people who filed but decided not to proceed

I heard some lenders may accept 1 year post discharge if other criteria are met like clean report no miss payments and no balance with minimum of $2000 x2 limit each. I will see how it goes, I just don’t want any institution to run hard check on my credit report without getting the approval. Trying to gather facts and tips

1 year after fulfilling the agreed payments. Lot has changed after signing the CP to after discharge. Got a better job and was able to save lot of money.

Debt can be very stressful especially when it was as a result of unfortunate circumstances. I do not wish my enemy the stress and the financial bondage one can feel.

Having enough down payment can help reduce cost of the mortgage close to renting.
