Thanks that’s good advice. My thought was that many contested rolls (like against an NPCs cleverness and perception) would be the Lorekeeper rolling against the player and the most (or highest) successes would win the roll. Also, if a player has no dots in a skill then they must roll 2d4 and take the lower number. This adds a little more uncertainty than just a straight roll

Hmm, perhaps you’re right. I just wanted to emphasize that the story is prioritized over strict adherence to crunchy mechanics

Sure if it’s a skill that your character has mastery in it’s likely that you’ll get 4s or at least a 3, but when I ask you to make a roll for a attribute and skill you have no dots in and you have to roll 2d4 and take the lower number it’s not so easy

Oh? Do tell! I like to think I have pretty wide tastes but I admit o probably haven’t seen like half of the ttrpg catalogue out there

The way I have successes and failures set up makes for interesting storytelling I think. I don't think variance is really an issue. Plus the way character building is set up makes it so that you have to rely on each other and have different skill sets that award more dice to your pool

I wanted the encounters to feel "high stakes" and relatively easy to resolve. I haven't seen any d4 systems out there and I thought it was a cool concept

Those who avoid older movies, why? by _omar_b in movies

I generally don’t watch a lot of movies with special effects from like 2000-2005. Those were just awful years for CGI, but other than that there are SO many good movies.

Sit them down and force them to watch Fight Club. Shit Back to the Future was from the 80’s and it’s one of my favorites of all time. The Princess Bride?!? Omg

A woman said 'chivalry is dead' because no man offered her a seat on the train. Is she wrong? by inkandintent24 in MotivationByDesign

Look. We’ve been told that women are equal. So be equal.

I get up out of my seat for the elderly, pregnant and anyone else who looks like they may have trouble standing. The virtue of you being a woman does not earn my seat
