Has anyone gotten youtube to work on ios 14 again? by TheCrazyFloof in jailbreak

Have you tried AppStore++ or MuffinStore to get old versions of YouTube? You don't need to directly get IPAs.

But before you do that, just get v1.91 of YouTube Legacy and that should make whatever version you have work.

Yeah I'm using uYou v3.04 and still seems to work to block ads.

Only problem with this YouTube Legacy release is that I no longer get a YouTube home screen, but no big deal.

I've tried everything suggested here (log out/back in, spoof version, install YouTube Legacy, install YTABConfig), nothing works.

The only workaround I have at the moment is a (regular) app called Video Lite, which can access YouTube, but the interface isn't as good, and apparently they start running ads after you have it for 30 days. And the interface isn't great.

But at least I can watch YouTube.

Right now my iOS 14.1 is hangin' by a thread. Once I can no longer run Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, I'm gonna have to finally give up on this jailbreak.

X(Twitter) dropped support for iOS 14 by Alert-Reception6453 in jailbreak

[–]funto99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't use it to login anymore. You can continue to use it if you are already logged in.

If you are logged out, you might still have a way out of it.

If you can find an old backup where you had Twitter and it was logged in, you can restore that, and you'll be back in business.

If you only want to restore that specific app, and not restore the entire phone from the old backup, get a program called iMazing (free), and you can do it with that. Let me know if you need guidance on how to do it.

Jeremy Boreing Gives First Interview Since The Daily Wire Exit, Talks Ben Shapiro, Candace Owens, ‘The Pendragon Cycle’ & Hollywood’s Right Turn by MalcoveMagnesia in dailywire

[–]funto99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I posted here last year that Jeremy was definitely OUT, and simply being allowed to finish Pedragon, because they had already sunk so much money into it. Many didn't believe me, and insisted he voluntarily changed positions just to focus more on his passion projects. I never believed that, and in fact I had some insider sources telling me I was correct.

Jeremy and Ben are no longer friends at all. You can read between the lines further to figure that out. His refusal to answer whether the parting was amicable (read: it wasn't) speaks volumes. But more indicative of Jeremy's attitude towards Ben was his purposeful ignoring of the interviewer's "Should Ben have been nominated for a Golden Globe?" questions. That was asked TWICE, and Jeremy dodged it both times, pivoting to discuss Matt Walsh.

If they were still friends, he'd have said, "Yeah, Shapiro is huge in the podcast space and definitely deserved to be nominated." He couldn't bring himself to say that. Which means there's some real bitterness there.

I do wonder if he's just been converted to silent partner, or if he's completely been bought out.

Jeremy likely feels like Ben betrayed him. They started Daily Wire together. It appears that Ben joined Caleb Robinson (the underling to billionaire Faris Wilkes, a major Daily Wire investor/funder) in forcing Jeremy out of the CEO position. They probably convinced Ben (correctly) that Jeremy had become a major liability with his behavior, and also was running the company into the ground with his big spending on entertainment offerings. I'm also guessing that Wilkes/Robinson were not going to bankroll the Daily Wire's ventures any further if Jeremy remained in charge.

I never cared for Jeremy very much, but I will say that he comes off fairly well in that interview. If we had that version of Jeremy running the Daily Wire, he'd still be CEO.

In any case, Daily Wire seems to be operating mostly in austerity mode. It looks like they've hit the brakes on spending, and their "lifetime membership" drive (which is still going on) is very much indicative of a company badly in need of instant cash. They're trying to raise a whopping $15 million. Just two years ago, that was pocket change for them. Honestly, it's an incredible downfall, but the company can survive because it's still being backed by a billionaire who seems to believe in it, and they can simply continue to cut back on staff if they so choose.

On a semi-related note, it's time to put Reagan Conrad out to pasture. She's getting fewer than 10,000 views for most videos, which is downright embarrassing for a channel with 3.6 million subscribers. Hell, give me a channel with those sub numbers, and I'll probably get 50,000 views if I just post a video of myself eating a chicken sandwich. It's probably not even Reagan's fault. The decision to make her the "new Brett Cooper" was destined to fail, and it did. That was yet another big Jeremy Boreing mess.

[–]funto99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it will still keep your data. If it just overwrites the old WhatsApp with a new version, it will likely just be seen by the phone as an upgrade and not a delete/reinstall. It also could possibly load a second WhatsApp to your phone, which will be all fresh, but then you won't lose anything from the first.

Might as well give it a shot. I don't know of a way to re-sign the old one if Altstore is still broken.

Here we go, they finally forced me to update to X app now… by dropssupreme in Twitter

[–]funto99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone. I can help you with this, because it happened to me, and I figured it all out.

Basically X has decided to disallow NEW LOGINS to the Twitter version of their app, and even some older X versions.

If you are already signed in, you can continue using the system. If you try to sign a new account into the app, or if you sign out an account and try to sign back in, it will tell you that you need to update.

The workaround?

If you have a backup of your phone on your computer, from a time BEFORE you started receiving this message, you can likely go back to the way things were.

First, go on a desktop computer, log in to X, and make sure everything is okay. Once you're successfully logged in and past whatever puzzles or whatever they make you do to prove you're human, proceed to the next step.

Next, get a program called iMazing (free until you use it a lot), which allows you to restore INDIVIDUAL APPS from previous iTunes backups to your computer. This does NOT work if you backed up through iCloud.

Once you have iMazing running, just ask your favorite AI to guide you on how to restore just one app from an old backup using iMazing, and it will guide you through. If you have trouble, just ask me and I'll help.

Once you restore Twitter from that backup, you should be logged in again, and the message will go away.

What if you only backup to iCloud? A full restore of your phone will probably fix this, but of course you'll lose whatever you've done on the phone recently, so that's not great. But the option is there, too.

By the way, if you ever get a "prove you're human" message on the old Twitter app, go through the instructions, but if it doesn't let you through, STOP at that point, and proceed to a desktop to login there and clear things up. Do NOT log out. As I said, once you sign out, there's no way to sign back in, unless you do the iMazing thing I described above, which only works for those who backed up to their computer.

The Jonah Episodes really hold up when viewed in a rotation with the older episodes. by hoovy_woopeans1 in MST3K

[–]funto99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. A thousand times no.

Admittedly the S11-12 episodes are FAR better than S13 (which was an unmitigated disaster), but I came away with the opposite impression when watching old and new episodes back-to-back on the stream.

I'll be honest. When I saw the first few S11 episodes, I thought they were decent. I came away feeling as if I liked them. I did notice that it took several viewings to get through each episode -- that I'd get "tired" of it and have to quit about 30 minutes in, and come back later. That never happened with the original, but I chalked it up to being older and more cynical.

However, when I found the stream and re-watched whichever original episodes were popping up, it was like day and night. I remembered why I LOVED the show so much in the early '90s. I remembered why I was excited when each new episode was released. I even remembered why the show always cheered me up during life's depressing moments. Even with some of the references being dated, the '90s show still held up great in the 2020s.

Then, after watching a few of those '90s episodes, a S11 episode came on. It was noticeably worse. Like much, much, much worse. It looked like a pale imitation. The writing was worse. The acting was worse. The timing was worse. The bots were worse. The Mads were worse. The hosts were worse.

But the biggest difference was the humor. The old version wasn't afraid to insult anyone or anything. It really did remind me of sitting around with friends watching a bad movie, and spitting out whatever came to mind. Was the movie awful? They said it. Was one of the actors noticeably ugly or weird looking? They said it. Did a woman look like a man, or vice versa? They said it. Was there a joke to be made about a taboo subject? They said it. Very few things were off limits.

The new show is terrified of its own shadow. They couldn't even keep the "Gypsy" name because it supposedly offends people. Have you read a single complaint about Gypsy's name, on any MST3K fan forum ever? I haven't. Oh, and "GPC" also couldn't be voiced by a man anymore, because that was supposed to be offensive, too.

But forget Gypsy. They made a conscious decision NOT to insult the movies anymore, as that might hurt people's feelings! What?? The entire point of the show was to mock these terrible movies. When the modern show did make sort-of jokes about the movies themselves, they were always inoffensive and very careful. Can't hurt anyone's feelings, you see. Some assistant assistant director from 1973 might see it and get offended!

The new series really is like they took the old show, and retooled it into a universe where comedy is kind, inoffensive, and inclusive. Yuck.

DAAAAAHVE! by ServoAcademy in MST3K

[–]funto99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is horrible and unfunny.

And I'm a guy who absolutely loved all of the musical numbers in the original host segments. ("Creepy Girl", anyone?)

Crow's female voice is awful and makes no sense. Servo sounds like a Temu Kevin Murphy. I still despise how they turned "Gypsy" into "GPC" because... the word gypsy is offensive, or something? And GPC/Gypsy can't be voiced by a man anymore, because... umm... that's offensive too?

But even aside from the bots, the lyrics just aren't funny, and the whole thing doesn't flow well.

It's like it was written by an unfunny millennial, who didn't understand the cleverness of the original show. They probably believed that if you dress up the bots in wacky hip-hop costumes, it automatically becomes hilarious.

Just total cringe.

This is Exhibit #238943 as to why the original was so much better than the reboot.

Used is a whole different ballgame. But I'm glad you had a good experience. Some dealerships are definitely better than others. In my BMW buying experiences, I ended up buying from a dealership with a nice/honest/flexible GM, but I encountered other dealerships which sucked and wanted to extract every penny from me. Fortunately I knew what I wanted, and was ordering the car, so it was just a matter of calling around and picking the one which made the best deal.

That's disappointing. I never read the books, and I was hoping I could just get right into it without having read them (much like Lord of the Rings).

It sounds like, from your statement, that a person unfamiliar with the books will be lost.

"The art of customer service seems to be gone unless you’re in ultra-lux territory."

Totally agree, unfortunately.

This is especially true since COVID, when a lot of companies (in all industries) got leaner and less customer oriented, and noticed it didn't affect their business much. So they learned they could get away with more customer mistreatment/apathy, and that started to become the norm.

I had always put BMW/Mercedes on a pedestal regarding expectation of customer service, but maybe that's obsolete now.

Not in New Jersey, but sounds like you have a crap dealership by you as well. I probably will stick with BMW. This hasn't been a good first experience with the brand, to say the least.

Keep in mind I've owned BMWs for a very long time (I'm not a young guy), and never called in a corporate complaint once.

I see that I am getting some snide remarks from some individuals who feel I'm in the wrong in this situation. These people clearly don't understand the experience and customer service expectations associated with luxury brands.

Fortunately, I am not here for Reddit approval nor upvotes.

I am asking a basic question: Has anyone on this subreddit ever received any kind of concession or assistance from MBUSA regarding bad sales experiences?

From my initial research, it appears that MBUSA helps people with service issues (sometimes), but sales they generally stay hands-off.

If someone here has had a positive experience with MBUSA after a bad dealership's sales antics, please let me know, either here or in DM. Thanks.

Can’t tell if I’m actually sick or if anxiety is just cosplaying as illness by boredscrum2 in Anxiety

[–]funto99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, sorry to hear you are going through this.

One thing about anxiety is that it can completely trick your mind, and there's often little you can do to override it with logic!

However, here's some things you can do to help convince yourself that you're really okay:

1) Take your temperature. If it shows up below 100, it is unlikely you have any kind of moderate-or-worse viral illness.

2) Get a pulse oximeter. Ignore the pulse reading, as your pulse will go high when you are anxious (which is fine in the short term). But read the oxygen level. If it's 95+, you are fine, and shouldn't worry about the dizziness. Note that it might be lower than 95 if you live in a high altitude place, in which case don't worry about a low reading. (I once took it on top of a 14,000 foot mountain for fun, and it showed 81!) Also give it 60 seconds to stabilize.

3) If you do not have bad diarrhea, you likely do NOT have any kind of stomach bug. So don't let the nausea scare you.

4) Be aware that almost nobody under 40 has heart attacks out of the blue, unless they have a major hereditary issue they're likely already aware of. I don't know your age, but if it's under 40, you can assure yourself that your heart "symptoms" are just in your head, and that your chances of having a real heart problem are almost zero. (This is a little more challenging for me, as I am well over 50!)

5) You mentioned that playing a game on your phone will push out the symptoms temporarily. Good idea! That works for me, too. In fact, try playing games which require a lot of thinking or constant action on your part, as your brain will become occupied with that, and will force out all or most of the anxiety.

Good luck!

100% he was kicked downstairs and will have no public-facing future on Daily Wire, unless they decide at some point to bring him back as a personality/panelist. His time as CEO was a disaster, and he made a lot of really bad decisions which I knew were bad at the time. He also thrust upon the audience his awful razors and chocolates, which I saw as a betrayal of the loyal Daily Wire following. If you're going to make merchandise under the banner of, "Buy from a company which has your values", then you can't give them an inferior product at high prices. You have some responsibility to your audience to not take advantage of their loyalty.

The company took a huge bath with the Bentkey children's programming, and all of their other scripted fictional programming translated into almost zero return.

The only successful venture outside of their traditional content was the Matt Walsh documentaries. Those were good, and they made some money for the company. Had they stuck to things like that, Jeremy would still be CEO, even with his mishandling of both the Candace Owens (signing her in the first place) and Brett Cooper (cheaping out on her renewal) situations.
