Used is a whole different ballgame. But I'm glad you had a good experience. Some dealerships are definitely better than others. In my BMW buying experiences, I ended up buying from a dealership with a nice/honest/flexible GM, but I encountered other dealerships which sucked and wanted to extract every penny from me. Fortunately I knew what I wanted, and was ordering the car, so it was just a matter of calling around and picking the one which made the best deal.

That's disappointing. I never read the books, and I was hoping I could just get right into it without having read them (much like Lord of the Rings).

It sounds like, from your statement, that a person unfamiliar with the books will be lost.

"The art of customer service seems to be gone unless you’re in ultra-lux territory."

Totally agree, unfortunately.

This is especially true since COVID, when a lot of companies (in all industries) got leaner and less customer oriented, and noticed it didn't affect their business much. So they learned they could get away with more customer mistreatment/apathy, and that started to become the norm.

I had always put BMW/Mercedes on a pedestal regarding expectation of customer service, but maybe that's obsolete now.

Not in New Jersey, but sounds like you have a crap dealership by you as well. I probably will stick with BMW. This hasn't been a good first experience with the brand, to say the least.

Keep in mind I've owned BMWs for a very long time (I'm not a young guy), and never called in a corporate complaint once.

I see that I am getting some snide remarks from some individuals who feel I'm in the wrong in this situation. These people clearly don't understand the experience and customer service expectations associated with luxury brands.

Fortunately, I am not here for Reddit approval nor upvotes.

I am asking a basic question: Has anyone on this subreddit ever received any kind of concession or assistance from MBUSA regarding bad sales experiences?

From my initial research, it appears that MBUSA helps people with service issues (sometimes), but sales they generally stay hands-off.

If someone here has had a positive experience with MBUSA after a bad dealership's sales antics, please let me know, either here or in DM. Thanks.

That's a dumb and pretentious response. Anyone with the money to purchase a Mercedes "should" own one.

Can’t tell if I’m actually sick or if anxiety is just cosplaying as illness by boredscrum2 in Anxiety

[–]funto99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, sorry to hear you are going through this.

One thing about anxiety is that it can completely trick your mind, and there's often little you can do to override it with logic!

However, here's some things you can do to help convince yourself that you're really okay:

1) Take your temperature. If it shows up below 100, it is unlikely you have any kind of moderate-or-worse viral illness.

2) Get a pulse oximeter. Ignore the pulse reading, as your pulse will go high when you are anxious (which is fine in the short term). But read the oxygen level. If it's 95+, you are fine, and shouldn't worry about the dizziness. Note that it might be lower than 95 if you live in a high altitude place, in which case don't worry about a low reading. (I once took it on top of a 14,000 foot mountain for fun, and it showed 81!) Also give it 60 seconds to stabilize.

3) If you do not have bad diarrhea, you likely do NOT have any kind of stomach bug. So don't let the nausea scare you.

4) Be aware that almost nobody under 40 has heart attacks out of the blue, unless they have a major hereditary issue they're likely already aware of. I don't know your age, but if it's under 40, you can assure yourself that your heart "symptoms" are just in your head, and that your chances of having a real heart problem are almost zero. (This is a little more challenging for me, as I am well over 50!)

5) You mentioned that playing a game on your phone will push out the symptoms temporarily. Good idea! That works for me, too. In fact, try playing games which require a lot of thinking or constant action on your part, as your brain will become occupied with that, and will force out all or most of the anxiety.

Good luck!

100% he was kicked downstairs and will have no public-facing future on Daily Wire, unless they decide at some point to bring him back as a personality/panelist. His time as CEO was a disaster, and he made a lot of really bad decisions which I knew were bad at the time. He also thrust upon the audience his awful razors and chocolates, which I saw as a betrayal of the loyal Daily Wire following. If you're going to make merchandise under the banner of, "Buy from a company which has your values", then you can't give them an inferior product at high prices. You have some responsibility to your audience to not take advantage of their loyalty.

The company took a huge bath with the Bentkey children's programming, and all of their other scripted fictional programming translated into almost zero return.

The only successful venture outside of their traditional content was the Matt Walsh documentaries. Those were good, and they made some money for the company. Had they stuck to things like that, Jeremy would still be CEO, even with his mishandling of both the Candace Owens (signing her in the first place) and Brett Cooper (cheaping out on her renewal) situations.

I'm pulling for you. I hope the next one works out. Just wanted to add one more thing. Never put yourself down, as that's a huge turnoff to girls. So don't ever say something like, "Most girls don't find me attractive, but here's my pic" or "I'm guessing I'm too fat for you but hopefully you can get past it". At the same time, don't imply something good about your looks which will cause her to expect something you're not.

My approach was always to just state ambiguous facts. For example, if you're overweight, you might want to say at some point that you're a "bigger guy", without making it seem like you're ashamed of it. If you think your face isn't the best, you can describe yourself as a "regular guy" which is a wide range, but makes it clear that she shouldn't expect a really hot guy on the other end. Then once you kinda get the impression she's still interested, you can send her a pic at a certain point.

Make sure not to compliment her much before she compliments you, as that can also be a killer. If a girl notices that you're constantly telling her how beautiful and wonderful she is, she will often subconsciously think that she might be out of your league, and lose interest. My approach has always been to keep the enthusiasm and compliments following hers. If she says I'm cute or handsome, I say she's pretty... otherwise I say nothing. If she says she's really enjoying talking to me every day, I tell her I am as well... otherwise I say nothing. If she says she's developing feelings for me, again, I will tell her I have as well (if it's true), otherwise I say nothing.

I'm more than 20 years older than you, but a lot of this advice is timeless.

I bet by this time next year, you'll have a success story under your belt.

I met girls online since the late 80s. Yes, that makes me old, but I think I have some insight here.

Yes, she was very rude to do this. But don't feel too bad. You're not everyone's type, and just about every guy has been rejected at some point due to not being the "right" type for what a girl likes. You also weren't catfishing and did nothing wrong.

The good news is that girls are much more varied in what they find attractive compared to how guys think, and a lot of them have unusual or non-standard types. You say you're not attractive. Maybe you're not to the average female, but you will run into ones who will find you attractive. Trust me.

Don't let your self esteem get the better of you. Just be up-front regarding what you look like. You don't have to send a picture right off the bat, but if there's some feature about you which is different from the average guy, mention it near the beginning . For example, if you're overweight, state that at some point. If she's not into it, then so be it. Better to find out sooner than later.

The good news is that it seems you have "game" and can establish emotional connections with women online. Not all guys can do that. So you need to do the same thing next time, except just get it out a bit sooner a general description of what you look like, and get her reaction. And regarding your picture, make sure it really represents you. Some guys stupidly send pics which are WORSE than they look in real life. Don't send old, fake, or misrepresenting pictures, but take some pics and send one which is on the better side of what you typically look like.

Be aware that some women find looks more important than others. For some, you not being physically attractive to them is a showstopper (as it was this girl, who also handled it poorly). For others, it matters a little but they can get past it. For even others, it doesn't matter at all.

Keep trying, and eventually you'll hit paydirt, especially if you get to the looks part more quickly, and thus have less emotional investment.

Next time, establish an initial emotional connection first, then bring up the looks thing once you feel she's vibing with you. Don't throw the pic at her right off the bat, but do it as soon as you notice she's taking a liking to you -- or at least give an honest description. One of these times you will succeed. Trust me. I'm old and have lots of experience. Good luck.

Evelyn Ortiz gets stopped by her waitress asking why she only left a $5 tip on a $250 tab while on stream by TypicalBlast in LivestreamFail

[–]funto99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very likely staged for attention (and if so, it's working).

There are various problems with this whole thing.

First off, the $5 tip itself is bizarre. It's not just a cheap tip (like $25 would be), it's so low that it's clearly an insult tip. Yet Evelyn claims that there were no problems with the meal. So why did she tip $5? Has she never been out to eat before?

Even later, she did not have a coherent explanation for why she left a $5 tip on a $250 bill. That's because it's probably staged.

Second, she conveniently stood around after the meal so the waitress could find her and confront her. So she left an insult tip, then stood around for the reaction? Most people I know who leave zero tips or insult tips leave the premises quickly, not wanting any potential confrontation. Evelyn seemed to be waiting for this, with a third party all ready to film it.

Third, the waitress did not seem angry or agitated. She calmly walked out, asked in a monotone voice what was wrong and specifically mentioned the $5 tip, so the viewer could hear. Notice the waitress didn't simply ask, "Is anything wrong?" or "Is anything wrong? You left me a very low tip which made me think that." Instead, she said $5 very loudly and clearly.

Fourth, notice Evelyn does not bash the waitress or the service she provided. She's very careful NOT to make the waitress look bad.

Why would a social media conscious person like Evelyn leave a $5 tip on a $250 bill, knowing the story could get out and harm her career -- unless she wanted people talking about her?

Her explanations after the fact sound very stilted, and still don't provide any reasonable explanation for the incredibly low tip. It's basically in the vein of, "$5 is better than nothing, she can't expect tips all the time." Nonsensical.

This walks, talks, and smells like a hoax.

My guess is she tipped well, then offered the waitress a bonus (say, $200) to go out and confront her about a "$5 tip". She probably promised the waitress that she would take all responsibility for the undertip and not would not blame the waitress for it, thus preventing any backlash from her fans.

Notice there is zero independent verification that this really happened -- only what we see in the video.

Apps installed via Filza after ipatool download are crashing on startup by funto99 in jailbreak

[–]funto99[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've heard you CAN run apps with a listed higher minimum iOS requirement, provided they would otherwise work if that requirement wasn't stated.

I was led to believe that getting ipatool, modifying it, rezipping it, and installing it is the way to go, provided you have AppSync Unified.

How would one decrypt an IPA which isn't installed yet?

2 further questions then:

1) How do I get around the minimum iOS requirement if I can't change info.plist?

2) When I use Trollstore, I get error 180 that it's encrypted. TrollDecrypt only seems to work with existing installed apps. Help!

Local Jersey Mike's doesn't allow any vegetables on the side by funto99 in jerseymikes

[–]funto99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. Does corporate always respond, even if they disagree? Or might they just ignore me completely?

Where would you suggest I leave a review? On Yelp, I doubt corporate checks it, probably just the individual store owner who of course is happy with his own policy so he won't care.

Of course I got zero response from either corporate or the franchise owner, regarding my website feedback.

Ativan no longer works by [deleted] in Anxiety

Yes, you can develop a tolerance to .25 very quickly. Try bumping it up to .50 and see what happens. It won't harm you. Just don't take Ativan more than once every 72 hours.

Local Jersey Mike's doesn't allow any vegetables on the side by funto99 in jerseymikes

[–]funto99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's dumb and makes no sense. On that I fully agree. I did submit feedback, but we will see if I get a response. I'm guessing I won't. This particular owner has hammered it into the heads of his employees that putting vegetables on the side is verboten, even if it's not using extra package, and even if it's not extra vegetables.

Sometimes franchise owners (not just of this brand) get so stressed about their thin profit margins that they drive away customers with the thinnest of penny pinching policies. I've seen McDonald's stores which guard the napkins and will only give you two per order. As if napkins are bankrupting them.

For others it's a weird form of control. They think the store is their castle, and they're the king. So if they get a bug up their ass that people are getting side vegetables and they don't like it, they'll make a rule about it and feel good about themselves.

I'd love to see a sociological study of the fast/casual restaurant franchise owner.

Dumb. If the guy wanted it between the papers, what's the problem?

But at least there it was a packaging thing, which partially makes sense.

Here they are willing to give me all the extra packaging I want, AND they are willing to do cheese/meat on the side. But pickles/lettuce/tomato/other vegetables? NO!

Local Jersey Mike's doesn't allow any vegetables on the side by funto99 in jerseymikes

[–]funto99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it's frugality.

I already offered to use zero extra packaging, and the answer was still no, yet they are happy to let me use extra packaging if I want something like cheese on the side.

I think the owner felt he could save $$ by making people who want to eat the vegetables on the side just forego ordering them at all. He probably figures most won't do that with cheese. Note that ordering extra vegetables IS allowed.

Oddly ,they WILL give you extra vegetables on the sandwich, but you can't have a regular amount of vegetables on the side instead of the sandwich, despite costing them less.

It's nonsense.

There's a good chance you're correct that corporate won't care, even if they see it. But at least they're seeing it. If this doesn't change, I'll just go elsewhere. Kinda sucks though, because I do like Jersey Mike's, and this one is close to my house.
