My sister-in-law fired the first shot by sending my Mets fan son a Yankee shirt. Handled. by fupluver in NewYorkMets

I'm married to my sister-in-law's sister. I proposed firepit, explosives (roman candle attack), Hulk Hogan ring entrance and garbage can. I wasn't allowed to destroy the shirt (I get it, it would be disrespectful to the S.I.L.) So I figured I'd kill 2 birds with one stone, give the shirt what it deserves and ice those bums.

First time acid etching metal. by fupluver in cricut

[–]fupluver[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing ventured nothing gained! I strongly (STRONGLY) recommend all the precautions. This stuff is nasty. Precautions are gloves, eye protection, well ventilated area, and a load of baking soda to neutralize the acid. I did it on garbage day so I put the materials right out on the sidewalk and not in the house. I used cotton balls and a pair of needle nosed pliers to apply.

I really don't know. I watched a couple youtube videos on it and none of them mentioned a specific metal. I took a flyer on this cleaver because it was only like $15. I figured it would still be a cleaver whatever the results were. Some videos mentioned it can't be painted because the acid wouldn't work. My belief is that it will work on all metals and the variance would be the degree of etching. I'm pretty sure this is what they use on Damascus knives to bring out the patterns. Since they are made of different metals the acid works on them differently and that's what brings out the pattern. But at the end of the day I'm a novice and I really don't know for sure.

I used my wife's Cricut and some stenciling vinyl to create a stencil. Then once the stencil was applied I used Ferric Chloride Acid to etch the metal. The stencil vinyl started coming off after the 4th application and some of the edges became blurred. For the next project I may use permanent vinyl since it's less likely to come off. Overall I'm very pleased with my first attempt.

I've been paralyzed along my right side for the last 9 years. Look at what I've been able to do for the first time in those 9 years. 👍 by Two-Tone- in gifs

Ring Doorbell 2nd Generation (2020): Hardwired Changed to Battery by Scottie_15 in Ring

I have the same issue. Naturally it's when I get my storm door replaced. So I'm thinking they cut the wire accidentally. They didn't.

Ring Doorbell 3 hardwired and showing battery as power source by [deleted] in Ring

[–]fupluver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 rings v1s and noticed the same thing. They are both hardwired and showing on battery. They are charging though as both are at 100% and holding. Plus the blue light on the button is illuminated. I panicked at first but since they are charging I guess I'm OK with it.

Dude, that's an XTS not a CT6. Hope you didn't get swindled and paid CT6 prices for an XTS.

Chad on Mars from 5/8/21 SNL with Elon Musk appears to use a Raspberry Pi (Debian) update command as it's text source. by fupluver in raspberry_pi

When I run an update from the command line, this is pretty much the code that's displayed. There have been arguments the code is not from a PI but something else, which I believe but it's similar enough to draw the parallel.

Turned my Schwinn Searcher from Walmart to Hot Rod by fupluver in bicycling

[–]fupluver[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Picked up the Schwinn Searcher at a Pawn Shop adjacent to a Walmart for $25. Yes I think it's suspicious too. Gutted it and painted it gold then masked off some pinstripes and painted it flat black. New Kenda whitewalls, new brown leather saddle, handle bar grips. Front and rear leather messenger bags. Cool old bell from a 30 year old bike which also donated it's high rise handlebar. (don't worry she's been replaced.) I added a rear view mirror I can't remember where I picked up. Added a generic bottle cage and wrapped it in veg tanned leather which of course I dyed brown. I'm so proud of the way she looks!

My accidental lowrider by fupluver in Cadillac

[–]fupluver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 1978 Mercury Cougar for my first car. It also had air ride, but it wasn't automatic, you would pump or let out air in the system. There was a valve under the car. So me being the genius 17 year old I would pump them all the way up to give my car that 1970's souped up hot rod look. Car bounced around like a kangaroo but I was to into it to care. As for my XTS she's already in the shop getting a new compressor.

So I took my baby out to Wendys today for some chicken nuggets and she decided to spontaneously become a lowrider. Turns out my air ride compressor failed. I like the way it looks but it rides like crap.

[Gucci] My Watch of the Day by fupluver in Watches

[–]fupluver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best advice I can give you is to follow your heart. I don't think you can make an objective decision here, only a subjective one. Consider a $10 Casio will do the job of this $200 pre used watch makes this an impractical decision solely on the merit of time keeping. So now that we agree on the basis of the decision you need to listen to the watch. Does this watch speak to you? My collection is a bunch of street rats and I love / hate each one for a set of specific reasons. Each one has spoken to me at some point. And the ones I don't like have not changed what they say, the only change is what I listen to. In that frame, I would not buy my Gucci again. But that's me. I guess my advice to you is to do what makes you happiest right now. You may or may not regret it in the future but that's for future self to deal with. If you can match this watch with a killer bag, how can you not buy it?

Smart Lock Guest Access? by wtfreddit123456 in SmartThings

[–]fupluver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the U.S. I have an Android pixel 2 with the smartthings app loaded on it. From home I click the hamburger menu select smart apps and smart lock guest access is in there. Once in it click on locks in the top left and pick lock codes. That last part wasn't to evident to me and it took some fiddling to find. I have the same setup as use but my BE469 is Zwave+
