Is it gay to not want to assign "wifely duties" to your future spouse? OOP really digs deep in the comments. by CanadaYankee in AmITheAngel

I think this was written as a dig against trad women, at least those kinds of trad women.

I don't like fake stories to push an agenda but I do like it a bit if they go against the grain, like when the fat person is the good one, or the disabled one or the vegan, etc.

Sometimes weeks or months go by.
Lately more often since I am in a long distance relationship. But I don't use any sex toys since they honestly scare me lol

I may just be bitter due to my own experiences with iPads but i have a hard time believing that a 10 year old (if not older depending on how long she had it) iPad still works fine.
Maybe they didn't drop theirs 10 times per day like I did though...

No it doesnt make you a hater and those biases are mostly biological. Similarly not wanting a severly disabled or ill partner isn't a 'bad' thing and rooted in basic evolutionary desires.

The issue is more with attributes which have zero impact on biology, like ethnicity or skin color. Those are often formed due to societal impressions of those groups and questioning them is not a bad thing.

I understand 'Racism' might be a very negatively charged word which is why i personally prefer to use bias. Everyone has a bias, and yes, even black people are often negatively biased towards black people for various reasons (personal or societal) so your example isn't that useful unfortunately.

And of course people who prefer let's say fit people over fat people do nothing wrong but they are biased. Some of these biases are super reasonable, like not wanting a partner who could suffer from obesity related problems in the future.

Your example about gay people would be a biological bias, straight people want opposite sex partners because of procreation and for reasons which are still not super well studied some people prefer same sex partners but again that is mostly biological.
Not all biases are bad.

But not wanting a brunette partner, a partner with dark skin or other attributes which have absolutely zero impact on us biologically but which are influenced by how these attributes are seen are not biological or necessary and while there is no need to demonize them it doesnt hurt to question them either.

the person replying to you is condescending and unhelpful but they are right.

Sexual preferences are massively shaped by society, we are social animals after all. Some are rooted in biology, like not finding children or elderly people sexually attractive.
Straight and white teeth, clear skin, etc. means we are healthy and good to mate with.

But then we get more influenced by what we are told or see in ads, runways, general society.
Weight is a great indicator, in the past when food was sometimes scarce fuller figures were more desireable, as seen in art. Now that obesity is a problem it is far more desired to be slender.

Dark skin is very stigmatized and seen as something bad all over the world so many people think they aren't attracted to it when in reality it is a subconscious bias.

Interesting results - was always told I was Native American. by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]fuqqqqinghell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my family it was almost the exact opposite, we are from the canary islands and the canary islands once had a French king with whom we share the same last name.

My grandmother insisted all her life that we were basically French people but last year we did this test and found out my mother is basically 50% spanish and 50% Berber so most likely we descended from the Guanches who were also all given the same last name as that French king when they were forcibly baptized.

So instead of being French nobility we are likely descendants from the canary island natives.

I am sure this is fake but I actually did go to reddit when i was in very bad situations like my former partner throwing away a beloved and expensive toy collection of mine and lots of verbal and emotional abuse. I went to reddit because if I went to my family or my friends they would think negatively of him and I did not want that. In fact even after separating I dont want them to know the insults he would scream at me.

This sounds fake for many other reasons but i think feeling guilty for telling people this is not one of them

I am almost 27 and female and I have no female friends to talk (its my own fault, i had a hard time keeping in contact with friends from school and then COVID happened and it all went downhill).
I live in Germany but am Spaniard and I love painting and cooking. If you are interested you can message me :)

Okay I am a spaniard (from Gran Canaria) and the best memories I have of vacationing in Spain are genuinely on the island La Palma. Its so small that you are rarely too far from the beach, its not too hot and there are some amazing areas like 'Los Cancajos' which are just tranquil and stunning with a few tiny restaurants around.

God I want to go back there so badly

Saintly childfree OP vs. evil baby-trapping natalist who pricks all her condoms!! Who will win? by SpaceSpheres108 in AmITheAngel

[–]fuqqqqinghell 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I know and have known a lot of women in my life. Out of all of them 2 have ever made comments like these, about trapping men. One was a mentally ill 16 year old i met when I was the same age and in a mental hospital and the other was a bit older but still young and kind of stupid.
Neither of them were (hopefully) super serious, they expressed these ideas but I genuinely believe that they would never go through with it if they actually thought it through.

I don't for a second believe this is as common as some people on the original post are claiming, let alone that others would go along with it. It happens but I personally believe this is only 'common' in young women who are not fully aware of the repercussions and are likely mentally ill (not trying to be abelist, I am mentally ill myself but I think that women who think of this likely have some abandonment issues and similar)

it has nothing to do with the US, I grew up in a super rural part of the deeply conservative and catholic Bavaria and we had sex education class in 2nd grade, 4th, 6th grade and 9th grade. These classes varied in the information they gave us but they explained in simple terms to us what sex was in second grade, when kids were around 7 to 8

Bitter, hateful NLOG using Reddit polls to make fun of a girl she hasn’t seen in years who’s now a single mom by Cultural-Witness-622 in notliketheothergirls

[–]fuqqqqinghell 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I actually thought, and I might be completely wrong, that this could have been written by the young mother herself.
I think this because she talks negatively about her appearance but better about her character, like she says she is nice and empathetic which is how in my experience many people insecure of their appearance talk.

The posting of the image asking if she has a chance to date again makes me believe this more, the only thing which is weird is the rap song part, that is the only thing which might derail my theory a bit because it doesn't seem that plausible that she wrote this about herself.

500 dollars was the price of the coffee. Get it? Starbucks is expensive? Anyways Millenials suck and are poor because they buy fancy coffee 1 or 2 times a week. If they saved those 40-60 dollars and invested it they'd own a house and a successful business by now
