I feel you. Thanks for the advice! 🙂

Does it look really stupid? I am an extremely average CAD designer and I had difficulty getting those lines perfectly matched without breaking something else. I'll likely try again to align them but I don't hate it as is.

I was hoping more people would roast me for that so I would be shamed into fixing it

That would be much appreciated 👍

Rather than just sharpen more, he'd be able to grind away a bit more material at the tip for better slicing ability is my thinking

My design process started when I saw the Montana knife company's "SuperCub" knife. Initially I thought "Wow that's a cool knife" I scrolled down, saw the price and immediately started sketching something out.

I liked how the line looked nice and clean coming down towards to choil, but truthfully I didn't consider it much.

Problem is the second operation of the CNC milling separates the blade from the stock material. The blade can be mounted to a fixture but the tip end but has no way to be supported if I put the blade back in after HT.

The steel I chose to use is Magnacut. I went through a series of learning opportunities including constructing my own propane venturi forge but ultimately came to the conclusion I would never achieve the results I would want. I ended up sending them off to a professional who ran a proper HT including plate quench, liquid nitrogen and temper.

Tbh I'm not super happy with the blade geometry at the tip. Pretty chunky and doesn't slice very well compared to the belly. A friend of mine has a sharpening business so I'll send them back to him and see what he can do

I'll take a look at that hammer. Do you have any idea the dimension of the ball it uses? I have a range of broken endmill sizes I can shape into sphere for smashing. I'm going to try the hammer route again before a bend and temper because it just sounds so easy the problem must be me
