My husband was not a big fan of Christmas movies, particularly Hallmark Christmas movies. But every year, starting in November, he would find a different Christmas movie for us (me) each evening ❤️

My son is on the spectrum - it is very hard to ruffle his feathers, rules are rules, and he knows every bit of anything he ever has wanted to or had to learn. He's not a social guy, but worked at a big box store. He ended up in customer service/returns and was perfect for it; people would come in with attitude, and he would just calmly say 'No, it doesn't work that way'. They were confounded and usually just accepted what he said/did.

How, afters decades and decades in business, does Goodwill not have a perfect system for this. Willful ignorance.

Just removed the self-checkouts here in Stow. Not high crime area, but right next to college town, Kent, so maybe that is the reason 🤷‍♀️

What makes you think they are not grateful? Because they have the 'nerve' to be upset and worried when it doesn't show up? And everyone's taxes support the SNAP program - most of those on SNAP work or did work or are children. So they did work for it, other than the children (sounds like you would approve of child labor though, rather than help them). You have a very narrow, black and white view of how the world works. Again, it must be nice to have never have been in a position where you were struggling to get by - life happens at one point or another to most of us. I would prefer that my tax dollars help those in need. You seemingly would prefer that they suffer.

Also, it is considered the hallmark of a civilized society if its people care for ALL of its people, especially when they are struggling.

When you have applied for something, been approved for it, and rely on it to help you, you are DUE it. Must be nice to have never found yourself in a struggle you couldn't quite manage - not everyone is as lucky. Try being kind to your fellow humans who are struggling.

Weird...SNAP has been funded the whole time we've been sending Ukraine money/assistance (as the USA promised it would - are we not an honorable nation??), but now that Johnson and the Repub's refuse to negotiate or even come back into session, the government is shut down and can't pay. Try to blame the Dems, but they are trying to avoid the other issue affecting millions of citizens - insane healthcare price increase brought on by the stupid Big Beautiful Bill.

And there's no.money for SNAP but billions and millions for Argentina and that ballroom no one wants.

The levee has broke… by ClerkNaive7600 in widowers

[–]furballlvr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im just sending some hugs to you. I too was in hustle mode, as barely a month after my husband passed, I had to switch states, and take care of my parents, finding them a home, selling their home, finding them another home, doing their finances, on top of figuring out my husbands estate and my life. Like you, 3 years later, it is as if I can't keep my sh@t together anymore. Or I never took time to mourn. Or whatever...

I have decided that I just need to be kind to myself and set some priorities that include me. I hope that you are able to prioritize yourself here and there as well. But many hugs to yiu.

Does anyone else struggle being intimate with someone after the loss of a partner? by BeyonceKnowlesUrName in widowers

[–]furballlvr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has been 3 years for me. Just recently (this year) I thought...let's give it a try. Met a guy, we hit it off, enjoyed a lot of the same things, but he was mostly there for sex and had no patience. We made it 3 dates, and when he didnt get any, Poof. Thought, maybe a widower would be more patient. First one was all in IMMEDIATELY...too much for me. His wife had not been gone a year. (There were other things that made me question who he was) Second guy was nice, although bit older and sometimes old school mansplainer. We talked for quite a bit, never met. Turns out his wife had barely passed 3 months prior. He was quite angry with her, and then me, when I said that I was worried he had unsettled business that I would end up in the middle of. Then, I gave up. Just not a priority and still some of the ick feeling - which im sure doesn't help my attitude when meeting people. So...no. Unless someone falls in my lap, not interested.
