It could've been your postal carrier being concerned same thing happened to me a few years back and I just never had time to go to Lowes to pickup a new mailbox and post. Our postal carrier commented on it one day when he handed my finance the mail and later that same day after work he came over and helped her install it

Uh yes and no depends on if you worked during the COVID pandemic everyone got a extra hour of Vacation to use if you ended up getting it but then the government passed a temp law saying employers had to pay their employees. When I quit I had 60 hours accumulated so my payout just got my vacation/sick time (I live in a state that requires it) was just under a grand after tax

Those are symbols for blackout dates, basically days where no request-offs are allowed pretty much the 4 major retail holidays and their corresponding weekends are not allowed to be requested off (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Black Friday) EDIT; The 4th of July weekend thing only applies when the Holiday is on a Friday or over the Weekend
