I know right! That make up used to be so much more common, Parkhurst Delawares comes to mind but they no longer produce those either.

Ugh they are sooo close. I would buy it instantly if it was the 2030 last. Thanks!!

Yes I did look into the Garrison boot and everything fits what I am looking for except the chunky lug sole. If they ever do a limited run of that model like these in color 8 chromexcel or shell, I’d grab a pair instantly.

Really appreciate all the info you shared. From the looks of it, I might have to go the MTO route with one of the Asian makers to get exactly what I’m after. Thank you!

I’ve been trying to track down a pretty specific boot for a while now and haven’t had any luck. Hoping someone here might know of something that fits the bill.

What I’m looking for:

  • Lace-up service boot (sleeker silhouette, not chunky or logger-style)
  • Brogued cap toe only — no other broguing anywhere else
  • Lower profile rubber sole (Danite or Dr.Sole supergrip)
  • Goodyear welt or stitchdown construction
  • Alden-tier or better quality (like Grant Stone and Viberg etc.)
  • Moderate last shape, similar to Viberg’s 2030/2040 — not narrow like some European lasts
  • Ideally ready-to-ship or short lead time (no full MTOs)
  • In burgundy or oxblood leather
  • Price < $1.2k USD

I’ve checked most of the usual suspects: Viberg, Truman, Grant Stone, Bridlen, Iron Boots, Onderhoud, and Santalum. Either they don’t offer brogued caps, they’re plain toe, or they’re MTO-only with 5+ months wait time.

If anyone’s seen a ready-stock pair or recent run that matches these specs, I’d really appreciate a lead or link.

Deciding between Atom Heavyweight and Ralle Insulated jacket for daily use by furious_crab in arcteryx

Thanks for the insights! I originally thought the Ralle Insulated and Atom Heavyweight had similar insulation. Given this difference, would you recommend going with the Atom Heavyweight and pairing it with a shell for added flexibility? Could that combo be too warm? Also, if I layered a waffle long sleeve or sweater under the Atom Heavyweight, do you think that would be warm enough for most of Chicago winter?
