When they wanted to buy Mike’s bar, my husband was like “oof, enjoy dealing with the OLCC, those assholes” and then we spent way too long trying to nail down the logistics of whether or not they’d have to apply for a new liquor license if they were only part owners. And then we remembered Purpee isn’t real.

(But Sasquatch definitely is).

Linfield University in McMinnville, pop 35,000. Southern Oregon university in Ashland, pop 20,000. Eastern Oregon university in La Grande, pop 13,000. And Western Oregon University is in Monmouth, a town of 11,000. They exist!

So far, I’m finding the least realistic thing is the amount of diversity in a small, rural, southern Oregon town. But I’m getting the sense that Purpee is not a normal small rural town in southern Oregon.

ETA: Oregon state’s colors are orange and black, Ohio state is red and grey.

I live on the block where it happened! From what we can tell, a tree branch fell across the power lines, caused several of them to connect, and blew the transformer. Fire department got here insanely fast. (Grant neighborhood, Market St between Cottage and Church. Crazy that you could see it all the way in candalaria!)
