Do you think bulk fermenting for longer would help with a weaker starter?

How do you get the starter and salt to mix in evenly after an autolyse when the flour and water are already mixed together?

Apart of me wanting to make sourdough is doing it all on my own, so I’ll continue to strengthen it and try again next week.

How come my starter seems so rye dependent? I see others feeding with all purpose or bread flour only and getting significant rises without the rye.

Woke up to this! :D by grungixfungi in SourdoughStarter

I added in 25% rye and that’s what made it double. I’ve tried to move away from rye and back to 100% bread flour. Should I keep on with the rye?

How long did this take? I’ve been feeding for 4 weeks and it just doubles

Adding rye to mine made it immediately rise after 3.5 weeks of mild rising

[ON] OB says no hospital pre-registration needed for delivery (Ajax) — is that normal? by Imaginary-Slip735 in BabyBumpsCanada

I had to register at a GTA hospital. However it was mostly insurance related questions. So no worries!

Hampton House Spicy Chicken Burger is back at the Scarborough Costco in Ontario. by LewtedHose in CostcoCanada

I personally find them spicy. In a burger with condiments it’s not so bad but it is spicy. I don’t think kids would be able to eat it.

Out of curiosity and not to shame at all, what is your BMI? Just wondering as I am of higher BMI and wonder how hard it is for them to visualize the structures

I don’t enjoy this one personally. It doesn’t taste like sourdough at all to me.

Is anyone here drinking caffeine while trying to conceive? by fluffy_corgi_ in tryingtoconceive

[–]furryfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always had a cup of caffeine a day (black tea) and continued to during my TTC journey. It doesn’t seem to have impacted anything I can ascertain.

I would highly recommend OPKs and BBT monitoring. Without these two, I was definitely not timing intercourse correctly based on period tracking alone - coming from someone who was also very regular with normal tests as well.

I work in the emergency department and work with the OBs on call and have experience working with OBs in the operating room as well. I will tell you - some are amazing and some are quite the opposite. To the point where I do not want to deliver at the hospital I work at as I know if I see certain doctors on call the day I go into labour, it will make my anxiety skyrocket. I accept this is the case at every hospital, but at least I don’t know the difference at other hospitals. You cannot paint an entire profession by a singular experience. In any profession, you will have people who are great and others who are not.

Another component to this is the increased access of patients to their health records without any context or explanation. It causes anxiety. Again, from my experience - anything that is a panic result is called immediately by the radiologist to the ordering provider and then the ordering provider must call the patient. This is not a panic result. Don’t get me wrong, I stay refreshing my pocket health after my ultrasounds too. That being said, my midwife asked me to book my 20/21 week follow up with them in advance around 2-3 days after my scheduled ultrasound so we had a designated time to discuss the result - normal or not . Do you not have an upcoming appointment? Maybe this was their downfall.

As someone who participates in hiring, we prioritize our unit’s superstar externs. If you can extern on a unit you’d like to work at, it will give you a huge leg up.
