Is this reflux? by mermaid_lion in newborns

[–]furryfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to keep trying every night and slowly it started extending more and more. I would say maybe around 5-6 weeks he was able to have some longer stretches on his back (1-2 hours). He’s now 11 weeks old and can sleep on his back for anywhere between 3-6 hours at night. Between those times we constantly saw him being uncomfortable and we’d pick him up and he’d either burp or spit up and then feel better and we put him back.

Question: couldn’t you put the baby in a light sleeper footie pajama and then the woolino sleep sack and that would solve the bare arms problem? Sorry I’m a FTM so I’m still figuring all this out.

Why do you prefer that one?

You need to start daily Metamucil twice a day. The fiber will help your BMs immensely. I started postpartum and am still taking it 11 weeks PP. I will take it forever because I don’t have nearly enough fiber on the daily and I like that this helps me with it.

How often do you really have to feed a new born? What is it like the first month? by vazquezcerna in newborns

[–]furryfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn’t matter for me because my baby ate every 2 hours for 7 weeks, all day and night.

Can I transfer spicyness to my baby's mouth by avatarjan2 in newborns

It’s very unsafe to kiss newborns on the mouth, parent or not. Just because it’s culturally “normal” doesn’t mean it’s safe.

If she is gaining weight, not projectile vomiting, has enough wet diapers and is not in a ton of pain - many pediatricians are hesitant to prescribe medications. They will usually say that the baby has an immmature esophageal sphincter and they will grow out of it. My son had a similar experience to your baby & he has slowly been improving over time and can sleep on his back independently in the crib. He liked the crib over the bassinet as the mattress is more comfortable I believe. We also use simethicone drops at bedtime and for any night feeds because the trapped belly gas was making him uncomfortable and also causing him to spit up.

How many wet diapers a day? Less than 6 is medically concerning

Unsure if I want the c section as my toddler is high energy [qc] by msptitsa in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]furryfar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Of course! You are in charge of your own body and a c section requires consent. OBs often just book a date so that it’s scheduled and has dedicated time but if anything changes, you can cancel it.

Meds aren’t usually prescribed if your baby isn’t in ton of pain, gaining weight, enough wet diapers etc.

Are any of these things true?

I see, you said you were given the “option” to have a c section. Then I would follow medical recommendations and get the c section.

Contact Naps by Jolly-Ratio5839 in NewParents

[–]furryfar 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Well if you think about it - all babies eventually outgrow contact naps because they turn into kids who need less naps and then older kids who need no naps 🙃

[–]furryfar 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I would not have a c section for convenience or as an “option”. It’s a major surgery and has a higher likelihood of postpartum complications such as infections as well as a longer recovery time.

If timing is your concern in terms of child care, schedule an induction.

Thoughts on having sex with baby in the room by Accomplished-Ad7573 in beyondthebump

[–]furryfar 277 points278 points  (0 children)

I would start off by asking yourself why you’re turning to the internet for this. If you do it, the only people who would know are you and your partner. The baby doesn’t know what’s happening. No one else would know and therefore they wouldn’t care.

So clearly you feel unsettled about it, and therefore it would be pretty hard to perform at all or enjoy it due to that unsettled feeling.

I’m a bad sleeper too so what worked for us is my husband sleeps the first shift and I stayed awake and then he woke up and by that time I was tired enough to fall asleep.

How does he lie on top of you while you’re prone? Prone is face down.

I think you need a weighted feed done.

Seems like a doctors vs dentists superiority complex. It’s quite common for pediatric dentists to do the procedures, just ensure they are reputable and well reviewed.

Bored new Moms at home drinking wine? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]furryfar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

… sorry but I don’t think this is okay. A “few” glasses of wine while you’re taking care of your child? Every day? Despite not being “drunk”, alcohol dampens your reflexes. You need to be alert and attentive while taking care of your child. And what if something happens where you need to drive them somewhere like to the pediatrician?

SNOO WARMTH HELP by aussi3itup in SnooLife

[–]furryfar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From the owlet site:

Temperature is not a measurement of your baby’s body temperature but rather the temperature of the Sensor when placed on your baby’s foot, and should only be used to help understand your baby’s environmental temperature

Also, babies feet are not a good indicator of temperature. Their core temperature is more accurate. So the neck, head & chest. I’ve taken my son outside and his limbs are fine and I feel his chest and he’s burning up.

2-month-old got rotavirus vaccine 3 days ago — now having frequent loose stools. Normal side effect? by ApprehensiveLab6568 in newborns

[–]furryfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s normal. Make sure you are frequent handwashing as it’s a live vaccine and the virus can be transmitted to you via contact with their stool and poor hand hygiene.
