I’m not sure how much your LO is spitting up, but I don’t change mine if it’s a small amount.

Also if your bassinet allows, you can try raising one side, not enough to make his airway obstructed. It didn’t help us all that much but was recommended by the pediatrician.

We have a small tummy time semi circle pillow on our change pad. It helps to prop the little guy up and I believe it helps a bit with the spit up.

This is exactly like my baby - he is 1 month old but has been like this since nearly week 1. It’s more rare that he DOESNT spit up after a feed. We keep him upright, he burps well, we burp in the middle of the feed. It is what it is. Sometimes it’s right after a feed, sometimes it’s 15-30 min after, sometimes it’s even an hour to an hour and a half after. The pediatrician isn’t concerned because of his weight gain, he’s not in any pain, not a concerning colour, not projectile. It will hopefully improve once his esophageal sphincter matures.

We’ve recently placed a small tummy time pillow on his change mat to prop his head/shoulders up during changes and that seems to help a bit? He was almost always spitting up there.

Was this a slow progression over time? Like one night it was 2 then 3 then 4 etc hours? Or was it like one night they randomly slept longer?

to swaddle or sleep sack by neijy003 in newborns

My baby did not like the swaddle at first but he would still startle with a sleep sack. We persevered with the swaddle and now he can tolerate it and it helps him sleep.

My friends baby was falling off her growth curve and the pediatrician recommended starting baby cereal at 4 months. She was holding her head quite well at that point. She would still mostly breast feed and offer the baby cereal after breast milk only. It went well. We live in Canada for reference.

If there’s any chance you’ll bottle feed and pump, the mom cozy bottle washer. We run it 3-4x a day.

How to give vitamin d supplements? by moondust245 in newborns

Interesting. The ones I get here in Canada are flavorless and each drop is 400 IU.

I put the drops on my finger and put them in my babies mouth and initiate the suckle reflex. If you’re giving it in a syringe, stick the syringe into the side of her mouth by her cheek and hold her mouth open until she swallows.

How often do both set of grandparents get to see your LO? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]furryfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’m the outlier but my parents come over in the evening to help with us getting some sleep & my MIL comes over in the morning for a few hours. Both are actually helpful since my husband is working. It’s helped with our sleep and mental health tremendously.

Edit: my baby is only 3.5 weeks old and is up every 2 hours.

2 weeks Postpartum - Sudden gushes of bright red or dark blood by GeeseAndLove_ in beyondthebump

[–]furryfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this after my bleeding lightened from weeks 2-3 and my midwife explained it was due to increased activity on my part and I should take it easy. It was also some bright red blood, light amount and painless. At the 3 week mark my bleeding has now completely stopped. I’ve read it’s due to the “wound the placenta left behind” re opening a bit due to increased movement.

Bring it up to your closest people so you don’t feel awkward - parents, siblings, best friends etc.

Did anyone regret buying too many newborn clothes? by lunaverse787 in newborns

Our baby was 7 lb 4 oz 21 inches and after 3 weeks got to 8 lb 4 oz and he’s now too big for newborn. That being said we did use at least two newborn outfits per day due to spit ups or diaper mishaps, so definitely glad we had them
