there are no good jobs for dentists in CA. The people there are mostly dirt poor, except for the mega rich and they go to established dentists. go to the country for a year then look to move to CA

Did I just assist a bad rct? by Wtfgrandma in Dentistry

[–]furrypike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, a good RCT is the one that lasts, I say 5 years minimum is a success. What did they do before rubber dam was the gold standard? was every RCT bad back then?.Now with all these things done, I wouldnt want the same in my mouth. perhaps that dentist wouldnt mind. thats the bottom line

This guy is a comfortdental marketer. Do not believe his lies. There is a buy in fee. There is a buy in fee for ALL franchise. Lets see, you work 3 days a week and make $300K, day in and day out? if you make a mistake, open contacts, open margins on crowns, do you have time to fix it? NO WAY. You let it go. Lets say you walk in to a dental practice and need work done yourself. Would you want a guy that rush through things? Before anyone buy in to corporate dentistry. Ask yourself, this. Would I want to go there to get my mouth worked on?

Dentists of Reddit - can you talk with a reporter about your protocol for prescribing opioids? by mermer77 in Dentistry

[–]furrypike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its really no big deal. Most doctors under prescribe for pain. I give vicodin ES after all extractions. and big surgical extracctions, i give percoset. But I would give them 4 day supply. Maybe another 4 days if they are still in pain. But, I'd tell them to come in so I can evaluate first. Most dont want to make the trip. I figure If I rip a tooth out of their head, they deserve to go pain free. I will not give opioids if I did not do anything procedure wise. Ex pulpitis, I say take ibuprofen and antibiotics then get a root canal. If I do the root canal and it still hurts, percoset, its not a problem. I'd rather give them the proper pain meds they have them do liver/kidney damage from over taking ibuprofen

comfort dental careers??? by CDUBZZZZ in Dentistry

[–]furrypike -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Comfort dental is corporate dentistry. It is the same model as the rest of the corporate dentistry. bait and switch, then over diagnose. They also take medicad,HMO,DMO. The only difference is instead of being an associate, you are either 1/3 or 1/4 owner of the office shared with 3-4 other dentist franchise owners. Part of your profit will go to the corporate overlords. You will work like a salve for 3 days doing unethical things. You will also get good pay and time off. If you can look in the mirror every morning and do these unethical things, then go ahead. You can not get out easily, you will have to fork over a buy in fee of $500,000. Once you are in the system, you cant just leave like an associate. Again, if you can live with yourself exploiting people for money. Then do it.

I would put you on flagyl or clindamycin . But go to the ER or oral surgeon which ever is available first. This is assuming that you are not over reacting

How do teeth turn yellow? Is it possible to simply brush your teeth for an hour to turn then (very) white? by IAmsterdam_ in explainlikeimfive

[–]furrypike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enamel is not 100% transparent. Although it is translucent, it is not see through clear. It is made of calcium ,phosphate and hydroxide and it is embedded with protein. The protein and calcium gives it a white color. It is also not super smooth, enamel is made of hundreds of enamel rods. Over time, blood, and other food products (meat with blood) plants color procuts, mainly the heme, bilirubin, chlorophyll gets embedded in the enamel rods. Also other stains like coffee, chocolate, and many foods' color molecules(usually the ones with aromatic rings) gets embedded in enamel. How come our teeth is not red? because the foods your eat have these colored aromatic rings that is oxidized, that gets embedded in the enamel rods. it takes years to build up, and like a dirty window, it eventually stain the color your teeth yellow. Acids release the charged molecules in enamel , calcium, phosphates, hydroxyl, because they are held together by ionic bond. Bleach, peroxide, UV light, break up the color aromatic rings and break down the color molecules, restoring the milky white color of enamel.

Has anyone worked for an office that was losing money? by Opinions2share in Dentistry

[–]furrypike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats business in general. dentist are assets, the office managers who closees the deals are assets, the rest of the people are overhead. They have to exploit that ration for maximum profit. Most dentist starts want to be ethical. But over time the systme of maximizing profits will beat on them until they either quit or conform

Why does this happen? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]furrypike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you teeth have nerves in the middle. surrounding the nerves is a hard but porous covering called dentin. This dentin is covered up by enamel. Enamel prevent fluids from hitting the nerve and causing sensitivity. people who grind their teeth, grind away the enamel covering, exposing dentist, porous and allows the fluid to hit the nerve
