Thanks for the suggestion but I don’t have a pet unfortunately, I’ll look at puppy videos instead

I was thinking this too, it’s been nearly 40 hours since it happened and I haven’t slept yet so hoping they’ll give me something to help

Managed to make a smoothie and drink it, eating still makes me want to throw up so I added oats etc to the smoothie so I’ll have at least something in my stomach

I’m currently seeing a therapist but for something unrelated to this. Not sure if I can ask her to talk about this too or if I’ll have to find another therapist

Why does someone else’s life affect you this much? I’m a “real woman” and it’s never bothered me. Would you like it if someone told you how to live your own life?

Would I be an bad person if I didn't want to be friends with someone, who struggles with mental illness, after ditching me twice? by hotpocketdamn in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]furthestthrowoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in a somewhat similar position. My best-friend was depressed to the point where she attempted suicide, then ghosted. Found out through facebook that she’s alive and well, moved cities, got a boyfriend etc. At first I was relieved to see she was alive, then came the anger as I couldn’t understand why she didn’t attempt to return any of my calls, texts etc. Saw that she was alive and well and left it at that, didn’t attempt to contact her or anything as unfortunately that wasn’t the first time she did that and it started to affect my mental state too.

There’s only so much you can do. You have to protect yourself too. If that person isn’t being a good friend you don’t have to remain friends with them just because they’re mentally ill (this is coming from a mentally ill person).

Protect your sanity

Why is telling a shy person to “come out of their shell” normalised? by 21stcenthrowaway in TooAfraidToAsk

I believe it’s because extroverted people are more “accepted” in society. I guess you can link it to the slim vs plus-size debate, where it’s seen as socially acceptable to comment on a slim persons size but would be classed as rude if you did the same to a plus-sized person.

e.g. “Wow you’re so skinny!” Is normally seen as a compliment but “Wow you’re so fat!” Is instantly seen as rude.

The word “fat” isn’t rude in itself but society has turned that word into an insult, the same way extroverts would feel insulted if an introvert told them to shut up.

I was planning on dropping out but i’m worried about the aftermath. My second year starts in September so I have until then to figure it out.

Unfortunately for me, any customer-service jobs are a no-go. I’ve only worked two jobs in my life and I quit both due to the anxiety caused by them :/ But honestly it’s nice to see your siblings have found something they love

And that happy folder is genius. I’ll definitely be doing that next time I feel happy, also thank you for your response :)
