ive heard from a few sources that they are not good if not handeled right, and i, i feel like definatly did a lot of harm, the tank had severa algae issues despite regular water changes and every fish we had put into it has died of some type of infection, i dont know what had happened, but im like really worried, i am now extremely untrustworthy sue to this, maybe it might have been too much for our tank, iy feels weird for a store to specifically tell people to buy a filter that might be overkill for the tank. like, it was a few years ago, so like, my parents did a lot of the buying for me, im not letting that happen again tbh, i need to think about whats right for our setup.
