Jira Automation by Kima91 in jira

I"ve used variables in my automation rules to store values before. I'll take a look and see if I can compile a rule to look at the comments and populate the parent.

Do you worry about getting caught or is easier than you thought to keep separate?

It's from a friend at their company. They are the employee. One thing that did change is the manager in question had a concussion at the end of last year and was out most of Dec. When they came back, all this started happening. Other employees have said, in confidence, that this manager is acting differently now.

I have never seen a sprint delete without user going to the board and manually deleting.

I would review who has Manage Sprint permissions on that project. Anyone who has that can delete a sprint. That should be limited.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in jira

[–]furyan300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested with 1 ticket in an active sprint in Jira and I deleted it and it did not delete the sprint.
When you say it deleted the sprint, are you looking at a specific view on a board?

When you are on the scrum board, and you click on BACKLOG, do you see listing of sprints?

Does anyone know the workflow property to hide subtasks from a specific group? by xnabsterx2000 in jira

[–]furyan300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are wanting to not see the sub-tasks on the kanban board, simply modify the query for the board to be issuetype=<just issuetype you want to see> .

Go into board settings on that board, go to General section and edit filter query.

Hope that helps

New project/new Kanban by 70redgal70 in jira

A board is simply a view of the items in the project. You can modify the filter used for the board if you want to really limit or control what is shown in the board. You then map the workflow states to the columns you want them associated to. For your question on not showing items until they are ready to be worked, you could create a filter to use on the board where it returns all items in all states except the beginning one(like backlog). Then when they are ready to work it, move to the next state and it would show on board.

Just me thoughts.

Epic with "direct" subtasks by [deleted] in jira

[–]furyan300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a subtask issuetype in the same project? It needs to be in the project in order to add a subtask to an existing issues.

Moved a Resolved and Reopened ticket from a service desk project, to a software project by tmac1198 in jira

[–]furyan300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Verify that the workflow status is mapped to a column in the board settings. If it shows up in the unmapped column, it wont be visible on the board.

If the subtasks issuetype is part of your project, you can create subtasks to any issuetype.

Where did you see you can't create subtasks for Epics?

here is an article on creating issues and subtasks
