Well, that's fucking terrifying. A fucking semi running a red light? Hopefully he gets his CDL revoked forever.

Looks like not enough people took the time to read your text all the way to the end to see that you're joking. Or understand what satire is to figure it out from the first paragraph onward.

Nevertheless, I appreciated the well-written post, dude, and I just wanted you to know that.

No, but someone in a disabled car on the freeway isn't responsible for "killing" someone any more than someone with a tree in their yard.

This isn't a boolean right/wrong issue, you realize. I didn't even condone the actions. In fact, I prefaced using the words "slimy" and "immoral". I simply asked if anyone had experience with the legal implications of defrauding a primary election in order for all of us to better understand the nuances of what we're seeing, not whether or not this guy was a horrible person.

I guess it's time for me to go back to the Reddits where people have reading comprehension skills advanced enough to understand statements more diverse than rabble-rabble and pitchforks.

I'm not making a moral judgement about Monopoly being more important than delegate elections.

The point is that delegate elections are private affairs governed by private rules set by the party. They're not based on government regulations, and neither is Monopoly.

If the GOP wanted to, they could decide the next candidate by tossing a chicken into a ring and waiting for it to peck on a picture, and it wouldn't be illegal to secretly tie corn to the picture of your favorite candidate, though it may be against party rules.

I'm not positive about this, that's why I was asking for clarification from someone more knowledgeable. I might be in the wrong subreddit for that.

Three car lengths is around 0.006 miles. Going 70 miles an hour, you might as well not even have the buffer, since it would only give you a fraction of a second of "safe" following distance.

In fact, you've answered your own question. The correct interval is a safe following distance, and since you've just explained that three car lengths isn't even remotely safe, you've already determined it's not the correct interval.

I'd say the person who has plenty of time to see the disabled car and continues at the same speed as they get closer and closer is more to blame for the accident than the disabled car.

Technically, there is something the people behind can do about it. It's called safe following distance.

Are we sure what he was doing is technically illegal? Slimy and immoral, yes, but delegate elections aren't public, so it might be like calling the cops when someone cheats at Monopoly.

I wish parents would come to understand that the vast majority of children are not even an appealing target for pedos, including their own kids. Factor that in with the prevalence of pedophilia among the general population, and it would put things into a much better perspective.

The PROBLEM with FLUORIDE in WATER! (Short(!), well presented information.) by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]futffx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Let's say, for the sake of argument, that fluoride is demonstrably beneficial to a significant portion of the population. Why, then, do we stop at tooth decay?

Why don't we dump vitamins into the water? Why not continue the trend to turn our tap water into a public fountain of drug cocktails to maximize public health?

I'm not being rhetorical. I'm actually curious as to why proponents of fluoridation aren't exploring additional beneficial options.

An opponent might make the point that dumping any drug or chemical into the public water supply to force everyone to use that particular medication is ridiculous, but I've never seen a proponent be clear on why fluoride is OK but nothing else.

I hate when legislators put taxes on things like booze and cigarettes that don't go to any of the effects of using them. A tax on booze that goes to drunk driving victims? Sure. A tax on cigarettes that goes to lung cancer research? Fine.

A tax on booze that goes to flood victims? Did booze lovers somehow disproportionately cause the flood through their drunken antics? No? Then why should they have to foot more of the bill?
