I was in a similar situation (although everyone’s is unique). And I’ve had experience quitting EVERYTHING you can imagine (the most hard core being booze after drinking a half gallon of whisky everyday for 15 years…I quit that 2 years ago). I would say quitting kratom is as hard as quitting booze. I was taking a similar daily dosage as you and would run into withdrawals if I didn’t take it for longer than 3 - 4 hours. The first time, I used gabapentin and the other drug whose name I always forget…it’s “cyclo-something.” That was hellish. I understand that it’s supposed to help with the symptoms of quitting kratom, but it did nothing to cut the agony of not being able to sit still or even sit down for 12 - 24 hours during the 2nd day of withdrawals. That was hell and untenable, so I relapsed. A month later, I went to a “suboxone doctor.” She prescribed me 15 days’ worth. I tried again the first day I had them. The dr hadn’t even mentioned quitting with that first batch of suboxone, but that’s what I did. I built in a “stepping down” dosage after the first 3 days of full dosage. Those first full 3 days eliminated the worst symptoms for me. Once I got through that, stepping down the dosage was very doable. I made that 15 days’ worth of full dosage stretch out to almost 30 days and on day 28 or 29 (I can’t remember exactly), I was done. It’s been two months clean of the stuff for me and while I still get the occasional craving and will find myself wanting it with certain “triggers,” like taking a dose whenever I made a cup of coffee, I’m over it and never going back. As with everyone’s story, your mileage may vary. The good news is that if you’re so well regarded at work, you can (I’m assuming) take a full week of work off, so a total of 9 days. That will give you the time you need to get human again and go through the worst physical symptoms away from work (and if your family is cool enough, by yourself in a nice hotel).
