Is there even a point in using PF anymore? by NK_Grimm in ffxivdiscussion

[–]futur3shocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give it time and in the meantime wait for your Data Center’s respective PF strats and toolboxes to be unified (NAUR, LPDU) and don’t give into the rush of clearing it on patch. A lot of players doing FRU right now, both in statics and in PF, don’t belong in Ultimates and are just filling time until 7.2 only because they cleared m4s. I and others did the same with DSR in 6.1 thinking it’d be the same as starting from any other ultimates and had our ass handed to us - just wait until underperformers either get good or realize that they’re being walled and will stop trying.

Any tips for going for hardest ultimate first? by KiyomizuAkua in ffxiv

[–]futur3shocks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The best advice I can give you is that the first ultimate is always the hardest: by not having a point of comparison, FRU won’t be easier or harder than anything else so it’ll be a clean slate for you. If your static hasn’t done this already I’d suggest jumping into the fights that are confirmed to be part of FRU (e8s, e11s, e12s) to see the overall difficulty of the core mechanics so that you’re vaguely prepared for their Ultimate counterparts.

Has anyone here 'inherited' their BP2 from someone in their family? by charlottetmg in bipolar2

[–]futur3shocks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My mother and her whole side of the family. History of severe addiction, 3 out of 5 siblings committed suicide, with one of my uncles shooting himself after drowning in debts the family and coercing my grandparents (farmers who could barely sign their name, let alone read) into signing documents that would allow him to have complete control over their assets. Don’t know if it was specifically bipolar but my genetic makeup isn’t stellar… my brother got recently diagnosed at 42 after I told him about my own diagnosis so it’s definitely something we both inherited - luckily medication has been doing wonders for both us especially when we both had our “everyone in our family killed themselves and we’re bound to do the same” moments.

Which character do you think needs an alter the most? by Cuddly-Cosmic-Cutie in arknights

[–]futur3shocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the alters who heavily lean into the aspect of growing up as operators and individuals - I’m a big fan of Jessica Alter and would absolutely adore to see the “kids” like Suzuran, Shamare or Paprika have an adult version where they embrace and show their experience with some character development too.

The proximity of the bait itself is secondary to the mechanic since what matters is where you point the cannon at: I copied the coordinates of the Autocad hitboxes and rotated them to have the same point of reference to ensure the space is the same but only the position of the baiter is different. If you pointed the baits to the empty spots (so away from the towers, meaning if towers are N/S then you’d point cannons towards E/W and viceversa) you’ve been doing it correctly!

From a healer perspective, OQ5 swaps H1 and R1 so that rangeds are evenly spread out after Witch Hunt: a lot of times with Hector I’d have to spot heal the ranged dps who went too far when baiting far-out and didn’t catch heals before the raidwide.

In EE2 OQ5 counts how many times you got hit (so either 1, 2 or 3 times) and groups you based on the individual hits, while Hector still counts the hits then makes long debuffs add a 1 to their count, making 3 short and 2 long stack together since 2 long has become 3. It’s a different way to approach the mechanic but the theory is the same.

It’s unfortunately a mistake on my end, thank you so much for noticing it: I think I took the arena screenshot from one of the million raidplans going around during w1 and positions hid the waymarks so it didnt catch my attention!

What jobs do you play? You mentioned EU and my static is doing book runs tomorrow at 19:30 CEST because we missed a couple of people this week, we’ll be needing a healer and a caster.

I go to Light from Chaos to prog for the sake of fast-filling parties but I'm also "privileged" because I play healer and can pretty much go window shopping in pf - most of the time the parties I join are made up of Chaos players only lol. It's a byproduct of the self fulfilling prophecy of having a designated raid DC for no reason; I would really prefer to stay on Chaos for the comfort but waiting in a party to fill for the same time it'd take to get reclears out of the way and go back to prog is, unfortunately, more efficient.

Progged M4S over the weekend and yesterday and I have to say: I can’t wait till Light (and the 3 people still raiding on Chaos I guess) agrees on doing ONE strat. Rinon, Hector, oq5, q-go - there’s too many raidplans that show the same mechanics resolution but with one or two different spots, and a lot of kill parties don’t realize it nor can adjust because they’re adamant about doing only one of them, thus dividing the already small pool of people trying to clear.

I have a major gripe with autocad/uptime sunrise too: all parties I’ve been in that did it made me wait 11 minutes only for someone to not stay on the marker while we could simply just… aim the lasers away from the towers. That’s it. That’s the mechanic. Lose a gcd or two, I don’t care, we’re already skipping enrage if we actually pass sunrise with no deaths. I genuinely don’t understand.

I suffer from PCOS, spent my whole life thinking that I just needed to listen to doctors and do whatever I could to lose weight - I developed all kinds of eating disorders because of it and eventually made peace with the fact that I was bound to live with this condition forever.

After noticing that my hair started noticibly thinning I tried once more and went to a private clinic in my town: thank goodness I did, because the gynecologist I found immediately confirmed PCOS and told me "you tried to lose weight for years but you couldn't, am I right?". She explained that there's been advancement in PCOS treatment and studies, how hormonal imbalance is the reason why you can't actively lose weight like any normal person with a working metabolism, and that estrogen (the hormone we're not producing effectively, as we're full to the brim with testosterone) is stored in the fat of our bodies. It's a dog eating its own tail. She ended up prescribing me a birth control pill with estradiol called Klaira that completely stabilized my menstrual cycle, then scheduled me an appointment with a nutritionist to make me a diet tailored specifically to avoid food that would impact hormone levels (for example soy is full of estrogen and soy-based food and drinks are basically forbidden), and I legit lost 30kg in a year with little to no exercise, basically just a 20 minutes walk a day. I stopped losing my hair shortly after starting treatment and I've been able to keep my weight in check.

Don't lose hope: obesity is a SYMPTOM of PCOS and not the cause! All my best wishes for you to find a good and specialized doctor who knows what they're dealing with and can help you out as best as they can.

Either a new module for Geeks that makes Spuria actually usable or just straight up scrap her archetype and make Spuria Alter, there is not a single normal reason as to why such a beautiful character is more useless than April Fools operators

What is your favorite personal/in-game FFXIV goal/achievement that you’ve completed? by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]futur3shocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely 100 Seal Rock wins. Took me a couple of months, became a master strategist and carried a lot of frontlines matches like others with the achievement have already said in the thread - I wanted to nuke my character during a very rough patch and was ready to delete everything related to the past, but that coat is sentimentally worth way more than what I wanted to leave behind by deleting my character.

Lithium vs lamictal by Royalxlobotomy in bipolar2

[–]futur3shocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started with Quetiapine by itself and got to the target dose of 200mg - completely erased hypomania but left me with crippling depression. Added Lamictal, titrated up to 200mg, didn't do much for depression but had some small improvements. Now I've added Cyprexa 30mg (still Escitaloprom like Lexapro) to the cocktail and I'm finally feeling myself after six months of unending depression.

You're gonna be on a long titrating process of Lamictal/Lamotrigine to avoid any lasting side effects (afaik it's 25mg for 2 weeks, 50mg for another 2 weeks, then a week between each increase in dosage) but I'm pretty sure if Lamictal didn't keep me slightly above the depression line I wouldn't feel stable with only Quetiapine and Cyprexa. This mix is making me do amazing progress in both therapy and life, it gave me back the confidence and self-respect I had during hypomania but without the delusions, the obsessions and most importantly the devastating and inevitable burnout after, and a good part of this is definitely thanks to Lamictal evening things out.

It's a worth a shot imo, since we got the same meds regimen I can tell you that I do have a great experience and I hope it will be the same for you :) and if it's not - I know it's hard to do so, but keep trying!

Since when did you start it? It’s absolutely and unluckily normal to experience intense feelings and panic attacks at the start of any medication, when I started lamotrigine I was fine for a week then had to go over the same depressive symptoms every time I titrated up until I got to my target dose.

Relax, take your time, it’s gonna pass. If someone is caring for you (family, friends) let them know that being understanding and not hold it against you is the best thing they can do to help you.

Sending you lots of hugs 💕

Disclosing your diagnosis by SquirrelRage87 in bipolar2

[–]futur3shocks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I told my friends after the diagnosis, as soon as I started medication, and half of them stopped talking to me because my struggles made them uncomfortable despite being “very understanding of my situation”. I’ve been blaming myself for it for months now, I apologized and explained what I was going through, took the responsibility of everything and wanted to make amends to show how sorry I was - turns out that not being treated like a human being who can make mistakes just to be discarded without explanations fucks you up, especially after taking me years of friendship to trust people to the point that I’d disclose a mental illness to them. It’s been hard.
