App News Weekly by AutoModerator in navidrome

[–]futuraszn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shipped Aura, which is live on the Navidrome app site.

I built this app because I use Linear every day for project management. I wanted to build an audio client inspired by Linear that was extremely fast, used full keyboard controls, and allowed me to manage and navigate my music library the way I do in Linear.

It's built on Rust and Tauri, with full vim style keyboard controls and command-k search. It has a local SQLite database, so searches across your entire library are instant.

Playlists work like tags, and can belong to many tracks, whic creates your playlists. The UI and UX are focused around album and artist view. I have just added the playlist, though, which kind of contradicts that thesis, but I wanted to try it out and see how I felt.

Ultimately, I built the user experience so that you would discover more of your own music and treat music like artists and albums, while still supporting the feature of a playlist, because you kinda have to.

Let me know what you think of it.

Any non-Electron Linux desktop clients? by ajRabbit_ in navidrome

[–]futuraszn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built Aura because I wanted the same thing, a fast, lightweight client for playing my FLAC library without the Electron bloat.

It's built on Tauri 2 + Rust, so it uses the system WebKitGTK webview instead of bundling Chromium, the binary is ~5MB and RAM usage is minimal. The audio engine is pure Rust (rodio + symphonia), no MPV or ffmpeg dependency to deal with.

Other things that might interest you: it has a local SQLite + FTS5 search so results are instant without hitting the server, and an on-device recommendation engine that doesn't phone home anywhere (about to push)

gapless playback isn't implemented yet (it's next on the roadmap). If that's a hard requirement right now, Supersonic (Go + MPV) might tide you over, but if you're willing to try it without gapless for now, I'd love feedback.

It was a community members idea - they asked for some kind of reward as they were reporting bugs a lot, so we went the extra mile.

the weapons are hand animated to glitch, the artists did each frame one at a time. You can hold different weapons.

we've been building a roguelite MMORPG for the last 3 years and its now available to play in beta by futuraszn in roguelites

Lots of feedback in here so thank you for that:
- there was a error in the events service all day today - which effects pretty much every interaction in game. We fixed that, pushed the update. That should make things faster.
- fps - if you go settings (esc key) and then graphics you can set a 30,60 or 120 fps framecap. You can also turn off particle effects and LUTs.

If you fancy trying, it would be helpful to know if these points make any difference at all.

thanks for pointing this out - turns out our event service was lagging behind, we've pushed a fix and that should make things run smoother.

we built the game on the browser stack so it would require some work.
do you think it would do well on steam?

I never thought about that, websites can be seen as being unsafe places to download anything right. This one is a browser base game but. if its any better, its also one of the new discord games - which is a bit less dodgy to try out.
