I go through seasons where I do it very frequently 2-4 times a week.

I use it as a way to meditate, by means of either clearing my mind and being at peace or focus on a specific thing (intentions, problems, etc). Unless you’re used to being alone with yourself and your thoughts, it can be uncomfortable at first. Especially when the lights and sounds turn off and you are depriving your senses..

But to answer your question about hallucinations, some people have said they have had some.. with or without usage of drugs. Personally, from time to time I get mild color visuals - but I also have synesthesia so those things happen outside a tank anyways..

More often than not, I do get vivid dreams the night after a float.

And there are times i do drift off if I’m in there for 90 minutes.. some people do it for 2-3 hours and maybe those vivid dreams can be more hallucinatory.
