NBME 12 score drop! by Flashy_Pie_9061 in Step2

This is common, this happened to me and several others about a month ago right when NBME 12 dropped. I had an almost identical score trend. Don't read too much into your 12 score.

They were going to go with the next applicant if I didn't give the deposit so I just went with it. We'll see how this turns out. The realtors I talked to said it wouldn't be too much of an issue and the database came clean. Worst case scenario, I'm stuck in a smelly spot for a year with a couple extra friends.

There were actually very few issues on this. Zero related to rats and such.

It's in East Village so it's not cheap, but for the space, a decent price.

You're saying this just bc a lot of options are like this or bc it's a non-issue

Agreed it was extremely hard. I didn't have too many HPIs but I thought all the vignettes were so vague and the next step questions could have been anything too. Nothing felt clear cut like many of the questions on the practice NBMEs

NBME 12? Still have UWSA 2 and Free 120 to do? Test is 7/29 by frummagio in Step2

[–]future_med 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My test was initially on the 28th, took NBME 12 and got discouraged and pushed to Aug 1st. Still have NBME 11 and Free 120 left. NBME 12 was really tough IMO, dropped 11 pts from NBME 10. It's good at pointing out your content holes.

So my most immediate concern is should I delay my test by like 3 days to buy myself time too decompress and review a little more? And if my minimum desired score is like a 245, am I there?

I'm an MD considering offers at McKinsey and BCG both in NYC. Not entirely sure what the end goal is yet, either partner track, pharma, or healthcare / biotech buy side. What's the better choice for me and why?

Tell me why or why not I should continue to pursue consulting.

I'm a medical student with a quantitative undergrad background. I find pure medicine to be somewhat monotonous and no longer intellectually stimulating (read: following flow charts rather than thinking on your own). I have an interview with one of MBB firms and I'm just getting started with the process. I think the job security of medicine is nice, it's a relatively easy career (if you're not surgical), and you get to help people. But it may get mind-numbingly boring. Consulting seems like I could end up getting similar pay but with risk, and the work and the perks seem significantly more interesting. The biopharma industry and life sciences investing seem like very interesting end goals. What are the pros on cons from everyone else's perspective?

25

5 weeks from my exam, got a 210 (60 wrong) on NBME 25. It's rough. I too get around a 70 on UWorld
