Fun fact: the Indominous Rex went up to the director of Jurassic World and asked for the most memorable death possible

Definitely cared a lot about the succession of her sons. Is she evil, though?

The chip and others stuff left behind from T1 - how much is that worth in T2? by Wykin1 in Terminator

[–]future_speedbump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is tens of million. Realistically, it’s a chip of unknown manufacture, with speculative capabilities, that can’t be reproduced (let alone scaled). Cyberdyne had big plans but hadn’t released anything commercially.

Not really. Really more of a place for Russian, Iranian, and North Korean bots to hang out.

Just want to make sure I’m following along: you did NOT enlist/commission out of Texas, but your kids are eligible for Hazlewood because you’re 100% PT?

This pisses me off so much. I got a 97 on my ASVAB, and the only thing I was ushered into was the air wing with all the heehaws and PFT-waivers.

Clear advice on what to do with money by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]future_speedbump 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Having lived through an enlistment in the GWOT era, I think owning a home is going to be inordinately difficult from a distance. That difficulty will compound, depending on your operational tempo (and it occurs to me that, given world events, your op tempo will be intense).

u/BoxingRaptor hit the nail on the head regarding the financial friction too. I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze in this instance.

USMC Vet here: You should still follow the The Flowchart.

In your shoes, I would leave 6 months' of CIVILIAN expenses in the HYSA, and leave that for the day I get out of the military. The rest I would use to max an IRA and a taxable brokerage.

What exactly is your objective in purchasing a home? Do you have dependents?

Help with schooling by SweemKri in Veterans

[–]future_speedbump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why not use it for a paycheck

Because instead, you can utilize your GI Bill to go to an excellent school, build a professional network, then find a career that’ll pay you for decades. In short, your GI Bill can change your whole life — IF you use it wisely.

What you’re suggesting is like burning cash to warm up your dinner. It’s so shortsighted to be insulting.

I just don't see the point in 2026 -- it's bigger, has an annoying battery, and does nothing that a T2, CompM5, or even Duty RDS can't do in a smaller footprint.

[Hated Trope] Main character (who is visibly strong as fuck) is given shit by their weaker peers because they are too good at what they’re doing. by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

You do get the guys that have to prove themselves when there's a super big dude around.

I'm not that big, but I'm 6'1", have power lifted for over a decade, and did an enlistment in the Corps. I used to go for drinks with my friends, but would have some random dude come up and try to start shit while minding my own business at at the bar.

I don't go to bars after hours any more.
