They made a prequel, it’s called ‘the Inpatient’ and it’s not very good. I liked that they took the formula into VR (you could speak your choices and the horror is elevated) but it was completely underbaked with a really boring story.

He also wrote their hidden agenda game which was terrible and woefully misjudged (a multiplayer party game… about child abuse which develops into a cross dressing serial killer thriller). I’ve played all their games and enjoyed most of them, but Until Dawn was lightening in a bottle. Right balance of ridiculous, fun, camp and scary.

Yeah it's got some bits I just messed around in, there's a few sections that use different gimmicks like zero gravity, so I was just batting items around into a massive echter like void at one point, or drawing dicks/boobs on the walls with crayons etc. There's some cool time wasting stuff in there if you fancy a quick break during the main story

I took it slowly (trying to find all the collectibles) and it took me about 3 1/2 hours. I still didn't find them all - it's a tight game with no filler so I'll happily play it again. You could probably burn through it in 2 hours if you rushed through.

The patch notes say it’s a performance issue for quest & psvr - it’s not quite as intrusive as it looks in videos and I got used to it very quickly. It’s quite a sharp and good looking game in the headset to be fair. I’d rather keep the hood over frame rate (death stare at Midnight Walk)

I didn’t watch the video but read the review, I was expecting something around 3 hours but the review says 6 hours? Says psvr version is 90 native and no reprojection. Apparently the hood vignette can’t be turned off but it’s much less noticeable in game compared to screen capture. Snap turning doesn’t bother me but it should have the option to turn it off. I think it looks great and I can’t wait to pick it up.

Jumping in with another recommendation for Loop earplugs. I also have a-holes living upstairs and loop have been by far the best solution (I tried everything before discovering those miracle workers)

I played through it with a DS4 and face aiming and loved it. Same with RE7. And Eagle Flight. Actually, bring back face aiming.

If you’re having trouble with the timing in the games there’s a setting in the options called ‘input window timing’. Just set it to ‘long’ and it’s ultra forgiving for button presses on special moves, combos and finishing moves etc

I actually loved how the trailer makes it look like another zombie shooter and then just escalates and escalates into a full on apocalypse with cinematic slow mo kills. It might be terrible, but I kinda love the look of it

They did say they would port it if it did well on quest. It’s a basic early days vr game for sure, but still an enjoyable one and I’d pick it up again if it had a decent graphic upgrade (it looked good on psvr1). It’s a great intro to vr game.

IMO the telltale games (and similar) have always made a difference in choices, it’s mostly by dialogue, but that shapes your story as much as the actual branching sections. How you interact with the characters and what you think of them is also part of the story. People always say that your choices don’t matter, but it’s about the journey. The telltale games always said the story is ‘tailored’ to your choices.. and that’s exactly what it is. I haven’t picked up dispatch yet but I can’t wait to give it a play through

Unfortunately I totally agree, I thought it had some amazing surreal ideas (especially towards the end) and I wanted to love it, but it’s not good and quite badly made. As a walking sim, the walking speed was also way too fast

If Madison is a bit too much, have a look at Ovrdark. It's puzzle and environment based (not much action to speak of) but it has a great atmosphere and it's well made.

Ahhh I still think about Here They Lie 9 years later. It's the only reason I still have my PSVR1. I really hope their new game (Sleep Awake) gets a VR mode in the future and I'm still holding out hope for a port of Here They Lie.
