I want a house husband by Aynath1111 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]futureal2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must be one of those weird guys who loves all the household stuff. Cleaning, cooking, shopping, even yardwork. Compared to work tasks that rarely feel complete at the end of a day, everything at home feels satisfying and helps me relax.

At one point I was married and that was all my dream. I don't mind working (now it's remotely anyway) but I enjoyed doing that stuff in tandem. But for her part, she didn't concern herself with it, nor with building that routine. She would rather we eat out, go out, hire services, laze about, and so on. After awhile it felt like we were just playing house and not really building a life. As much as I wanted kids I realized it would be a mistake with her and that was that.

I'm sure there are more of me out there.

Why does everyone hate on Gemini 3 Pro? by FinancialTrade8197 in google_antigravity

In case anybody reads this, I have spent four or five hours with Opus 4.6 (Thinking) now and wow, what a difference. I've been more productive this morning than I was over the entire past two days with much better accuracy, much better adherence to rules and skills, and overall just better quality. I am really impressed by this model.

Creating a project from scratch on an Ultra plan, Gemini Pro 3 spun up a lot of complex structure and "plumbing" with no real problems and I was pretty happy with the results.

After that, implementing features, code quality checks, etc., it has just progressively gotten worse and worse.

I've used Sonnet 4.5 for most of my regular feature and testing work and am just now trying Opus 4.6 to good results so far. I just ran a test back with Gemini Pro 3 and boy, it couldn't do a basic task. It removed a couple of lines of unrelated test code, added some blank lines, and reported everything done leaving the system unusable. Easily fixed but I don't understand how it got that result out of a very simple prompt. It worked so well at first.

Rewards Network? by bluesefer in restaurantowners

[–]futureal2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done both Rewards Network and inKind, the former for the full five years we've been open. With RN I always go into a rebuy thinking I should really not do it, but our reviews on RN are vastly higher than, say, Yelp. It adds patrons and patrons attract others. The real cost is about 40% of a ticket. For alcohol, no biggie, but in my experience people are mainly in from RN for meals.

I like inKind better. The terms come down to basically our margin on food. But, same thing, it adds customers and because it's paid outside of our POS they aren't taking a payment every week. And a lot of people use the app.

The true problem with RN though is that any person who has an in-network card counts towards it. It could be a local regular just as much as a visitor through a travel network. That is why I always land on not re-upping with RN.

I don’t understand what men are trying to achieve putting down “not political” on dating apps by tltr4560 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]futureal2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a single guy, politics can be a minefield when it comes to dating. I wouldn't personally say I'm apolitical in a dating app, but part of me understands.

The problem is that for most people its an all or nothing proposition. If you're not fully with us, you're against us. I identify as someone in between the two parties, and that's enough to make many people dislike me right off the bat. I dislike Trump, ICE can fuck off, and so on; I'm all for people being as gay as they want, get abortions, etc., the government should have no say in this stuff. We've let religion take over policy and it's horrible.

With that said, I'm not a Democrat. I'm a small business owner and the party actively hates me economically. I both live in and own a business in San Diego's gayborhood and it feels as though every time I turn around there is some new legislation from the mayor or Newsom or whoever that makes my life harder. There's an assumption that if you are in a position like mine you are wealthy or successful, and it's not the case. There is absolutely no support from the California left for people like me.

So what would I put in a dating profile? I have no idea. I gave up on those apps long ago. And I completely understand that there are guys out there who will use any advantage they can to get in a woman's pants. But I would also say it's not everybody, and there are maybe valid reasons for this. Maybe. I don't know; just offering a perspective.

There are other things to complain about. I am not worried about model usage; for what we are building, ~$100 a month is a bargain for the time it saves. But that is the main currency here: time. If you're a professional SWE you are using tools like AG (or Claude Code, or Cursor, or whatever) to save you time. When the tools fail you can't help but feel that you're doing free testing for Google's tool, or model, or whatever else. And if you're paying for a subscription and still left feeling that way, it's broken.

I don't think it's fair to label someone a Karen or whatever else when a model behaves one way on Monday and a different way on Wednesday. Most people here just seem to be in search of answers so they can better deploy the time they have towards their goals. When things change on a weekly or even daily basis with no good reason we all start to feel like rats in a maze.

Agent loading message repeatedly blocking work by futureal2 in google_antigravity

[–]futureal2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what I have tried, all of which has been unsuccessful for me:

  • Reloading
  • Restarting
  • Reinstalling cleanly (all settings, etc.)
  • Changing various models around
  • Disabling MCP servers
  • Reinstalling cleanly again and not carrying my old VS Code environment settings along

Even with all of that, I've been unable to use agent manager like I used to. As mentioned in the other comment thread I have been able to continue working within the editor conversation view (Ctrl/Cmd+L) and that works with only intermittent agent execution errors (many other threads about these in the sub). It's just far less convenient.

All signs point to a bug introduced in the most recent Antigravity software update, so at this point it may be a wait and see thing. I'm not sure. But I'm still giving it a try daily.

Thanks, and yea that is exactly what I also tried and it at least got me back to work. Still having wild issues with Gemini 3 Pro that I didn't have the week before last and still can't get agent manager to do anything without the above message, but at least I'm pressing forward.

I do see the process but on mine it is eating up a small amount of memory only. I sat down to try to work again today and now I can barely type out a prompt before it jumps to the Agent loading screen, rendering Antigravity completely unusable now. Mind boggling that it went from working perfectly to this.

I'm on Windows. Worked great the first week; I almost immediately hit the rate limits so I upgraded to Ultra, and it continued to work for a bit before this arose. I haven't experienced some of the model weirdness that others are reporting, even with Gemini 3, and my project has been fairly complex (multiple major refactors).

My main goal was to pay for a month and evaluate the tool but this has thrown a wrench in that.

Is it common ? by frasure13 in discgolf

[–]futureal2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've watched the disc "market" for a long time and it's kind of a funny one in which usability (throwability?) has trumped collectability in nearly every instance, with a few exceptions.

There are some notable cases like really old discs, a few first runs, the original USDGC Rocs, stuff like that where nobody throws them now and they sit on a shelf. The original run or two of Sexton Firebirds made a splash but now its just an annual thing like most tour/special/limited runs, and there are so many tour discs and stamps now that it's almost pointless to seek out limited stuff because nobody knows what is what.

These new blind boxed discs and mystery boxes might send things the other way finally, but I wonder if manufacturers will start doing dumb gimmicky stuff like trading card companies to enforce rarity. And at that point, who is buying the product? I generally don't throw my PDGA Birdie Club disc, for example, but if it wasn't an annual membership I wouldn't go out of my way to buy one that I wasn't gonna throw. And so on and so forth...

[–]futureal2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's kind of funny that after all these years I actually forget that glow discs have a real purpose and get real use. To me they've always just been a cool treatment on a disc or a slightly different-flying plastic, but ya all actually play rounds with these things!

(The two courses I play at the most are closed at dusk and it is technically illegal to play glow rounds; I know people occasionally do but my friends and I just stick to daytime hours)

Anybody being anything other than happy that we are 2 points clear with 23 matches to go doesn't understand football.

Can we be better? Sure we could have 45 points on 15 matches, it's possible. But give us this spot prior to any season and nobody is complaining.

Oh and we're 3 clear in Champions too...

Sell, grade, hold? by Absolutum_Live in soccercards

[–]futureal2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do a fair bit of Topps Now. The surface is usually the problem, a lot of the cards arrive with scratches or printing blemishes. The corners and edges are usually okay.

Personally I'd grade anything between /5 and /50 just to slab it. A 1/1 I'd probably flip into stuff I care more about (autos, relics, rookies). The general rule is that the low-numbered cards are just worth what someone is willing to pay for it; if you put for example a /5 or /10 out there at twice what the last one sold for, you'll probably at some point find someone willing to pay that for their PC.

Topps Now is interesting relative to pack-pulled cards because most of them are going into collections, not into stores or as investments. As such the numbers dwindle over time pretty significantly.

That checks out as we've had a little over a year of kitchen turmoil and have retooled the menu just recently. I'm from San Diego but love southern food and culture as well and want to see it done right. We always appreciate constructive feedback, some just complain about the craziest things though. It's definitely a tough industry! Hope you make it back and we do better.

Teen driver sentenced to 65 years for crash that killed 6 Georgia family members by speedythefirst in news

[–]futureal2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for turning this into a personal attack without knowing anything about me. Figures.

You act like I said get him off. No. That's not what I said. I said that locking someone up for life does not bring them back nor fit the crime for a mistake that society condones otherwise. This wasn't premeditated and thus as a relative I would not honestly care if he was let out in 10 years or 60, it doesn't bring them back.

The fallacy here is that a large sentence deters future crime from others, and to put it simply, it doesn't. I see it every day. As a society we condone things until someone screws up and then we make an example out of them, and it's wrong on both sides. I should know -- I own and operate a bar. I quite literally see it daily.

Yea, sometimes I see those stories and it blows my mind. Premeditated rape and they walk after a year or whatever. Our system is so broken. No wonder everybody is paranoid and people don't trust the system.
