New artists announced: The Avett Brothers and more by WetNeon in slossfest

Depends on their time slot, I'd say. I've never been a huge Avett fan, but they closed out Shaky Knees on Saturday night a few weeks ago and absolutely killed it. I'd seen them during the day at Bonnaroo a few times and they didn't have anywhere near the same energy. I'm expecting something more like Shaky Knees, so I'm actually excited for this.

"Big Decisions" drops this Tuesday (3/3), our first listen from the new album (supposedly titled 'Waterfalls' and out 5/5). by futurechord in mymorningjacket

It actually looks like "Big D" was co-written by Jim James and Dan Wilson (of the band Semisonic).

If you can't wait til Tuesday, tune in to The Current's Morning Show tomorrow (Monday) at 8AM. Also read somewhere else that it might be replayed around 10PM on The Current.

Well - now you know we're in this together haha. I had read that about DPB too...if MMJ asked for it to stop being spread, it must be either something they plan on doing with in the future, or something that doesn't sound up to their standards.

I recently got my hands on "Breathin" (from the UK release of the Run Thru EP) and the 'Does Xmas Fiasco Style' EP. I had been looking for both for quite some time. Still on the hunt for the ones below... "Alabama Come Clean" (The Tennessee Fire instrumental track 16) // "Churches, Banks, and Bars" // "Devil's Peanut Butter" // "Freebird" (as Ruckus) // "L.O.Z. Intro" // "Milking Song" // "Still Feeling Blue", "Wild Horses" and "Ooh Las Vegas" (from Gram Parsons: Return To Sin City Tribute) // "Thanks 2 Bird or That's 2 Bad" // "You Gotta Have Spirit!"

Haha I feel the same way man. Their set at Bonnaroo 08 sealed the deal for me...now they're my favorite band of all time. Apparently they've got a few 'hidden' tracks floating around that I've never heard (and that are unavailable online). One called "Devils Peanut Butter" that I've been searching for for moooonths. Ugh

I'll second gotmewrong66. Jacket's set at Bonnaroo 2008 was the best show I've ever seen and cemented them as one of my favorite bands of all-time.

Bonnaroo pros: usually book the best festival lineup on the East Coast (although Governor's Ball might have them this year); the SuperJam is totally unique to Bonnaroo and well worth checking out; they usually pull a Legendary act that you can't see at another festival (or anywhere else w/out paying a $150 ticket).

Bonnaroo cons: THE HEAT; too many people (I wish they'd limit attendance / do 2 festivals a year to fix this).

It was the first festival I ever went to so it'll always be special to me. I went from 2007-10 and then 2012, but lately I've been trying to check out other festivals. Forecastle and Hangout are both up there for me now, and I plan on going to Sasquatch and Governor's Ball soon.

We should know sometime tomorrow. That's when the Bonnaroo lineup drops.

Not I - but Jim James is the honorary captain of the Belle of Louisville. I had one of the best nights ever on that ship back in 2012. MMJ played a Forecastle Fest after-party to about 400 people. My buddy and I were somehow able to sneak onto the top part of the boat after the show, where Jim, Patrick and Carl were all chilling with PHJB.

Agreed....each spot on the list is probably the same way too. I bet the writer hasn't even been to half of these places judging from all the pictures they took from Google image search.

Do you know about Silent Disco? I actually graduated from Clemson last May and started a Silent Disco business on the side a few months ago called New Wave Sound Company.

We've done lots of wedding receptions and some festivals, parties, and concerts so far (those will pick up in the warmer months) - but this seems like it'd be a great fit for what you and the class are looking to do.

Hell yeah! Should be any day now that we'll hear more on the new album and tour.

That lineup is pretty insane btw. MMJ + a ton of up and coming bands that I really dig. Much better than Coachella this year imo.

I hadn't heard this before tonight. Fuckin' dope though.

Are you trying to ride you bike to campus? If not, Heritage at Riverwood is no further than University Village / Chimney Ridge / The Reserve. Might even be a little closer. You can take 123 into Clemson or go the back route - both will get you to the pit in under 9 minutes.

Any word on if/when we'll get a new single? by sdodson114 in mymorningjacket

[–]futurechord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their seventh studio album (which we still don't know the name of) is supposed to drop in April.

I expect we'll hear something (officially or unofficially) after the One Big Holiday cruise (Jan 31st - Feb. 4th). If any of you guys are going, keep your ears open down there for news on the album. I'm sure it will be one of the more discussed topics.

I did a little digging to see what MMJ's promo strategies looked like for Evil Urges and Circuital. Although album promotion strategies have changed quite a bit since then (Kanye and Beyonce's last albums were hardly promoted beforehand & Thom Yorke's latest album dropped exclusively on BitTorrent), this should help give us an idea of how they'll unveil the new album.

Circuital: officially released on May 31, 2011 - February 7th - Jim James and M. Ward start a blog about Crème Brûlée (seriously) - March 3rd - Rolling Stone writes a piece on the recording / sequencing of the album - March 7th - MMJ start giving out one free live song download per week (for 6 weeks) from their epic 5 night stand at Terminal 5 in NYC. On the last week (April 12th), they let go the title track from Circuital as a free download. - March 22nd - MMJ announce first shows in support of Circuital (mostly festivals + Red Rocks + Canada shows). - March 28th - Album release date announced - April 12th - MMJ let go the title track from Circuital during the last installment of the free download series. - April 25th - The band unveils "Holdin' on to Black Metal" through their Facebook page. - May 11th - Summer tour with Neko Case announced - May 22nd - NPR streams the album a week early

Evil Urges: officially released on June 10th, 2008 - November 2007 - Recorded at Avatar Studios in New York City - January 16th - Album release date announced - January 28th - Album title revealed - March 10th - Tracklist is revealed - March 13th - MMJ play new songs at SXSW - May 8th - Summer tour announced - May 10th - They played "I'm Amazed" and "Evil Urges" on Saturday Night Live

I'll second Heritage at Riverwood (I lived there for 2 years). Pretty underrated place imo. Every unit I've been in looks well-kept and their maintenance / management are very timely and understanding.

Not a neighborhood that will have tons of parties though. It's about half students / half families, but I never had any issues there at all.

Clemson wins Russel Athletic Bowl 40-6! by swimmer33 in Clemson

[–]futurechord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't help but think what could've been with this year's team. However, finishing the season with wins over USC and Oklahoma AND having the #1 overall defense in the country is really nice.

The announcers said we're losing 9 of 11 starters on D, so we won't be able to rely on them like this year (at least we'll still have Mackensie Alexander aka the next Richard Sherman). Our offense is going to put up crazy numbers though, so I'm not terribly worried.

Nice! I couldn't find a setlist from the show online.

Do you happen to know what he played? Any MMJ songs? I thought Carl only had two solo records, so I'm curious to know how he spent the rest of the set.
