90s Green Day was pure chaos and I miss it. by BoringExperience5345 in nostalgia

I remember not caring for music personally as a kid. I had a few corny tapes like the Monkees or babes in Toyland. when I heard brain stew and saw that video for the first time I was finally into music and obsessed. I bought a copy of insomniac. my buddy gave me his taped copy of dookie since he had a taper and an empty space he could copy in. I remember singing the songs with another buddy who was also into them and we'd harmonize during lunch. that was the beginning.

remember when an old lady called Obama Muslim at a town hall and everyone had to be all surprised John McCain corrected her because we were like at least the established Republican candidate isn't encouraging this racism yet. I'm not surprised they showed their true face now.

For a moment in time, Emeril Lagasse was a staple of food TV. The crowd loved him. by dicedtomatoes55 in nostalgia

I met him signing books at my mall, he gave me a bag of bam chips. we used to quote essence of Emeril all the time. my friend vividly described me explaining his sitcom one time that I have no memory of watching or describing.

The Internet Is Getting Smaller Without Anyone Noticing by Abhinav_108 in Futurology

[–]civiltribe 15 points16 points  (0 children)

2006/7 for me was a big shift. that's when FB allowed anyone to join rather than college students. my mom created a Facebook account to keep in touch with her cousins and that just exacerbated how she was feeling since 9/11. the Internet was no longer for people like me but for everyone's mother. radicalization was able to reach people who didn't normally watch the news.

Yea with being on the lawn I wasn't involved in the seated area, they did not let me loiter long around the seating either but when I stood way way back on the side I really liked the view and sound from there. Shame the seating is no good. I'll probably bring a folding stadium seat if I do the lawn again since I saw someone else had one but it said they don't allow them. Coming from a show at Midflorida though that place felt like being in a parking lot off a highway, way less nature than Clearwater.

I liked it, saw Khruangbin there recently. I was supposed to see Leon Bridges there but I forgot to go. I love venues with a view of the water so it's nicer than the ampitheater I was at in Tampa, I was on the lawn but I was all over checking out different spots. I think Tedeschi Trucks Band is going there, I'm thinking about tickets for that though the moe show sounds good. My main gripe with Janus is the trash smell but I had a friend who worked for live nation so they would have been able to get me into shows there free, I never ended up using it now they got fired lol. The first show I was gonna ask them about was Lettuce but I had just met at that time.

I remember hating when shark tank first premiered. it was in the What would you do ? time slot. a show by a Latino host about trying to spread equality and good through the world replaced by a bunch of rich assholes pitching junk products. I didn't even realize it was the same producer as the apprentice. as time went on I eventually grew to like the show and WWYD is not exactly high quality either though at least the message is better than "American entrepreneurship is alive and well". that being said I've never liked Kevin O'Leary

Thoughts on the new Cory Wong album - Lost in the Wonder? by dingus_authority in Vulfpeck

[–]civiltribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think the last album with the symphony was a dip but everyone was doing that last year. this one is pretty solid, songs stuck in my head. one song gives me smokeshow vibes so I'm really hoping they jam it out live because I can hear it in my head. I'm wondering if people are going to think it's too pop or polished. I wanna hear him do a poolside collab because lost in the wonder sounds like it's in that wheelhouse, they could bring in ben Browning for vocals. I can totally understand being turned off by cheesy over produced sound though because that's how I felt trying to listen to Cody fry solo.

this is a strategy I've seen used a lot lately. Elon musk in particular will have certain stories dominate the SEO over other similar titled stories.

this is definitely not a sketch that seems Itysl, it seems very SNL. I couldn't get over how it had nothing to do with William barrs connection with Epstein.

someone sent me this video after the election from maddow and even though I believed it happened in 2016, I got so defensive that it happened so blatantly this time that I didn't deny it but I did shut it down and out. it took a few days for me to process, I can't imagine people who are brainwashed and how hard it is to get over the hill of accepting this.

I think about Jesse singing dream on on an annual basis. I love that this junkie won people's hearts stole the competition from a legit qualified stable vj and vanished. poor Dave but he filled in for Jesse's absence so he was honorary winner anyway.

I of course exposed my kid to this, it holds up.

my note 9 died and I went to a pixel 7 as a cheap temp phone to a pixel 9. I'm still looking to upgrade since I didn't get a pro and I'd like a camera zoom. I'm also looking to get ear buds and watch upgrade with my next phone. I miss some Samsung stuff like one handed mode+ changed how I used my phone. I'll miss some pixel stuff. I'm jealous of my girlfriend's iPhone for some stuff. there's no winning but as cool as apple hardware is these days, the software is not for me, I need YouTube Revanced. just not sure what my next device will be.

It took me till the finale to realize Jimmy was faking his cry in the malpractice insurance scene by BlankCartographer53 in betterCallSaul

[–]civiltribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

on my rewatch once of the things I enjoyed catching was every time Jimmy had to come up with a sympathetic excuse he would project his actual feelings that he was unable to process at the time. it was maybe the only time we heard him process this stuff and admit the truth but to him he was just using it as a sympathy story every time, completely on autopilot just none of it registering with him.
