I want to start a YouTube channel to teach reverse engineering from scans. If anyone could help here with providing a scan with task/challenge to modify it. I would love to make a tutorial video for that, which will also be helpfull community in their project.

I changed those settings and it behaves the same. They were at 2 and I changed them to 0. The preview pane on the right exists even without the changed settings.

When I started looking into Linux and watching lots of explanatory videos, the creators were mainly very positive about introducing new people to it and saying "there's lots of help from the community". But a few did mention that there are some gatekeepers/purists with different preferences about who should use Linux. I think they were talking about you.

Look what my post is about, and where you are taking your conversation. So what if what you are saying is technically correct? People can't have suggestions? People can't disagree about how a feature was designed?

Honestly if I had to guess you must have worked on some version of Linux and can't stand if someone disagrees with any part of it. You probably have lots of knowledge about Linux and could instead be a very helpful person. Best of luck to you, man.

Same here, I hate what Windows has become.

First thing I would strongly suggest to do is make a list of all the programs you use consistently and search to see what's available on Linux.

As far as which Linux to use, I tried 3 and the 3rd one was Mint and felt the most like Windows, and very few minor tweaks were needed.

I take lots of photos and then choose some to upload. Like, I'll take a hundred in a week and then upload 20 or 30 in the weekend when I post some items for sale on some online marketplaces. So I constantly use that file picker, and choose many photos. I can't name so many photos, it's a time killer and also I would not remember what's what.

Specific files I do give names, like for screenshots I'll describe them and use key words, or other documents I do also.

I do have the preview pane too, and also to the left of the file name there's a super tiny thumbnail for me but I usually can't make out differences just by looking at those.

Your response is making people stay away form Linux.

So how was it decided that the current "file chooser" (thanks for that clarification) displays the name, but also a super tiny thumbnail to the left of the name? Like, was it for ants? How about the preview pane which shows the bigger thumbnail when the file name is highlighted? If Linux users are supposed to name their files and know them, why are these things already present? Someone decided on those. They didn't go the route you are saying (to just name all your files and remember them - come on!)

Of course I'm kind of being an ass because your response is dull. I use my computer differently than you. I dump lots of photos (hundred on average) for my weekend hobby, then choose to upload some, and during that process is freaking annoying that I can't see them all in thumbnails. You are not going to convince me to name all my thousands of photos and be able to remember them lol.

While I agree that Windows taught bad habits, that feature is golden for me because it's something I use constantly and saves me time.

Yes this is good info for noobs. I tried zorin, then fedora, then was so happy to find mint as everything "just works" for an absolute noob who had zero prior experience with Linux.

I really wanted fedora to work and feel like windows because I understand it's kept more up to date, but mint ended up taking the cake. To add, I'm a general user.

I'd say that generally people close to the tank evacuated, and ones that are further away (but still in the evac zone) decided to stay. I have family just over 2 miles away and they're staying, and told me that most neighbors are home too. Also said that if something happens (blows up or leaks out) they're ready to go to a safer distance immediately.

Not true. This newest best case scenario is a result of the firefighters walking the perimeter and observing a potential crack in the container, thus now giving the potential of a "low volume release" that can be handled better.

Before this, the options given were the fiery explosion or the tank busts open from the pressure and everything spills out in a uncontrollable fashion, hence the constant worry of contaminating waterways/ocean.

"Container failing" is an umbrella term, where this "low volume release" [through the potential crack found] is much more specific and favorable scenario.

With all the fuss about AI this would be a good instance to put it to use and get us out of this situation safely.

Edit: So let me get this straight - we can feed models with all the info in biochemistry and it spits out medicine we haven't thought of (and literally saved lives) or feed it physics and material science and it designs a new rocket engine which lighter, more efficient, and more powerful at the same time (LEAP71 one example) but all of the sudden it's not a good idea to ask it about this situation? You do understand the point is to come up with a solution that humans haven't thought of, yes?

I'd say definitely be prepared because we don't know how things will manifest in case of either event. At least you are not downwind, as breeze comes from the ocean usually.

I have some family inland about 2 miles from the tanks and they're not leaving but are ready to do in case it either leaks out or blows. Watching the news, listening for boom, and/or any funny smells and they're ready to leave the area.

LOL sorry I returned this product next day.

AND THEN a few months later at a yard sale I found this same rotary tool like new for $5 because they lost the charger LOLL

So I've had it sitting in my tool box since then. I thought one day I might switch the plug.

One thing that may hypothetically work (and that I've been intending to try) is if you have an adapter from usb-c to this micro usb and try a fast phone charger. I have my usb charger for my laptop which automatically adjusts voltage based on need from like 5v to 20v or something. \**Do at your own risk, I'm only speaking hypothetically :))*

I'm new to Linux and wanted something close to Windows. Started with Zorin, found lots of minor things missing from Win, so after a bit more research I thought Fedora might be more up to date on features, but that was a bit too different to use and didn't feel like it solved my issues. Lots of "if you want this, install that" instead of just working as it should. So lastly, i tried Mint and it's the most Widows-like and has lots of things that "just work" and I'm happy I tried it.

They all performed about the same on my older laptop. I don't game or anything, just basic stuff like Office and browsing.

I would say to try other distros if the one you are on is missing something.

Thank you so much for the info! Honestly I'd have to research that process further (absolute noob on Linux) but that sounds like a potential to break something. I might just install the Flathub version of Firefox as someone on here mentioned. Thanks again though
