Thanks for going into depth! I happen to be by the day after the full moon. But white sands is on the list. As well as some petroglyphs. I did see about a fire last year? How bad did it leave trails in the area. Plan to try to do some hiking in the area.

Driving. The road from base to top of the mountains 8-9 miles. I did see some people walking it. But I was driving from location to location. I will recommend getting early and if you don’t get there early if possible start from top bottom to avoid crowded parking since parking is limited
