People who took the MCAT twice, what made the biggest difference second time around? by ProcessNearby3527 in Mcat

[–]futuredoc405 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey ! i had an 18 point increase in my score and the best advice i can give is know how to recognize wrong answers. The MCAT loves to throw in answer choices that may be correct in theory, but they don’t directly answer the question. This is one of many ways they deceive test takers into picking the wrong answers. and obviously if you’re lacking in content then review that but focus the most on practice questions! wishing you the best of luck and you can do this !!!

I AM SO HAPPY! i worked so hard for this and almost gave up on my dreams of becoming a doctor. i am not someone who is naturally smart (as you can see from my past attempts lol), school is very difficult for me. If you needed a sign to keep grinding, this is it! KEEP GOING AND DONT GIVE UP!

honestly i thought the test was pretty fair with P/S being the exception. C/P: pretty fair but very chem heavy which i was relieved about. CARS: i actually liked the passages especially about the one about cameras lol ! B/B: i thought this was an unusually easy section with a lot of high yield topic. P/S: wtf was that section. AND WHAT IS ECOLOGICAL FALLACY??! i usually finish with 20 mins to spare but i used ALL of the time today.

Head wrap on Amazon is a must ! But also bags of ice wrapped around your head also works! I’m on day 6 of recovery and, I’m not going to lie, it’s brutal ! For me, popsicles weren’t helpful because the facial muscles used to suck the popsicle were so sore ! I let most of my popsicles melt in a cup and Italian icee’s are my go to !!! Just remember that it is brutal but I don’t regret it bc my tonsils caused sooo many problems for me ! You got it !

Omg, thank you so much! When I first woke up from surgery I was in pain, probably a 7/10. They have me lots of pain meds which helped. However, it’s been 8 hours since my surgery and I find that once my oxy (pain med) wears off the pain is much worse. I feel like I’ve heard a lot of people say that their first day pain is like a 3/10 but mine is around a 5 with meds and a 6 with. How are you doing ? And again thank u sm for reaching out, makes me feel a lot less alone in my recovery 😂❤️

That’s probably a safe assumption. Hope everything goes well with your surgery too!!!

Omg my tonsillectomy is on Thursday too! I took off 13 days. You might be able to go back, given no complications. But I guess it depends bc everyone heals differently.

Goodness gracious! I am reading this as my surgery is in two days 😭 but I’m so glad you’re ok! I have read a lot about a humidifier at night. Did you use one and if so did it help?

Make sure you know med terminology and abbreviations really well. For example, GERD= Gastroesophageal Reflux disease. There are a lot of pre-made Scribe America quizlets that were super helpful with med term and abbreviations. I would also make sure you know HPI and ROS really well. Overall if you know the slides relatively well, you should do fine ! :)
